Maybe use synthetic oil.Maybe adjust injection system,Timing???I am open to any ideas.

I WOULD SAY AN EARLY JETTA DIESEL.tHEY FIT AT A 50 DEGREE ANGLE.tHE MODIFICATION THAT CAN BE TROUBLSOME IS THE MOTOR WILL HIT THE MOTOR COVER.hOWEVER YOU CAN CUT A HOLE IN IT ABOUT 6INCHES X6.THEN MAKE A COVER WHICH ALOWS YOU TO CHECK THE OIL WITHOUT TAKING THE LID OFF.WORKED WELL FOR ME.GOOD LUCK

I would start with the switch.I had the same problem and I re wired the switch.Now the switch only has two sppeds but easier than removing dash to replace motor.I have done that too.It is not as bad AS IT SEEMS

I recently put an 86 turbo diesel in my 82 diesel vanagon.I ran the engine in the jetta for years without burning any or little oil.As soon as I put the engine from the jetta into the vanagon it burns a lot of oil.I do not know why.It of coarse now sits at a 50 degree angle.I have heard that maybe I...
