Re: 81 rabbit pickup fuel pump relay
THanks for the reply! I already have a board stretcher , that was no help. I just saw a bank spot on my fuse panel labeled fuel pump and no switch. I know the fuel pump only has the solenoid that is electric, but there are definietly wires going in where the fuse should be. Any case, I figured out t...

81 rabbit pickup fuel pump relay
Trying to find a fuel pump relay switch. Having trouble finding them online. Most of the online sellers that have a fuel pump relay does not differentiate between gas or diesel. I want to make sure I get the right one! Does anyone know a good source or know if the gas and diesel switches would be th...

Re: 1979 1.6 dasher electrical issues
after testing the alternator and making all the ground connections clean and solid I figured out that the positive terminal was hitting arching on the hood becuause this battery is a little bit tall for the vehicle and the terminal for the positive cable was not seated all the way down on the post!!...

Hard to find part! Shift selector shaft 5 speed
I have a 5 speed out of a 82 rabbit parts car. All the linkage is there and have all the parts I can find easily online but this one was missing the shift selector shaft. I am talking about the part that is internal not the selector shaft levers, etc that are external parts. Anyone know where I migh...

1979 1.6 dasher electrical issues
I am having issues with my dasher electrical. It is a 79 with the 1.6 diesel. The issues I am having are likely related in that the electric controlling the radio, the idiot lights, the coolant gauge and seatbelt buzzer, as well as the head lights, and glow plug light kick on and off intermittently....

Re: cylinder head codes
thank you for your reply. That is the same thing I have heard about the gas heads . The diesel AMC heads seem to have a good reputation as far as I have heard.
Look forward to hearing what your experience is with the one you have

Re: What head can I use on MF engine
Thanks for that info! I am a little concerned now as the mechanic said that either would work, but he did mention additional work would be needed for one or the other. The engine also needs the number four piston replaced. I was able to find new OEM pistons sold individually, but they are .5mm over....

Re: What head can I use on MF engine
You can put any 1.6 hydraulic lifter head on it. The stock turbo heads are better, if you can find one. I am getting conflicting info on this. So the head that was on the engine was a mechanical head. The head and the number four piston were toast when I got this. My mechanic says any hydraulic or ...

What head can I use on MF engine
Hi, I have an engine with code MF. I am looking for a head for this. What other engines have heads that would fit? Does anyone know a source for a good rebuilt head? This is in my VW rabbit pickup but the engine code looks like it is from a 88-91 golf or jetta turbo. Any info or advice is appreciate...
