Re: Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
It's finally finished. Ended up using the turnbuckle option from the top of the alternator. A small adjustment on the original suppor arm and it fitted perfectly. Already ran a few miles and it doesnt seem to loosen up. I ll post a pic or 2 tonight. Thanks for the help and ideas guys

Re: Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
I read that these were effective in compression on an ebay add but i ll investigate some more. If im wrong, i guess ill still use it, hanging from the old alternator bracket arm, coming from the fuel pump area. It is a way easier fix, instead of the old steel ones that have to be custum fitted

Re: Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
Update: i managed to find a stock non ac pulley for the golf and i have everything lined up almost perfectly! :D Next step is the alternator fixation. I found this type of tensioneer which appears to be easier to apply. Any ideas on whether it works and is as reliable as a custom made curved support...

Re: Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
And finally, to remove the bracket, there are 4 screws, right? 2 of them are visible and easyto access, but how did you reach the other 2? did you remove the fuel pump? i cant reach them with any of my tools

Re: Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
Hope the holiday season is being good to you guys! Now that the positioning is on the right path, I wonder what the right pulley for the job is. I was thinking on having a custom one made, however, id like to know what standart pulley can do the job, since they tend to be way cheaper than having it ...

Re: Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
The pulley alignment is relatively easy. I did remove a spacer behind the alt fan. Btw, there is no keyway in that pulley but it seems to hold just fine. Using a air impact really helps. Really? I didn't disassemble it yet, but i thought there'd be some kind of keyway or a machined shaft of...

Re: Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
Keep in mind, my setup isn't running yet... there are more proven methods out there, somewhere. I began guessing based on what I could find and following my inner cheapness. So as usual, I was wrong a lot. This is how I started - got a GP-688 ford pulley and a mk1 adjuster bracket from ebay trying ...

Re: Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
Another thing, I am expecting better cooling, after removing the ac radiator thingy. Am I right?

Re: Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
Good picture of how much you ground off the bracket. It can come down closer to the bracket. You should be able to use the old AC alternator belt,.. might have to put it on before you mount the alternator. You need to take some off the alternator too. Mark where they touch and remove just that spot...

Re: Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
When I did this on my 90 Jetta, I opted for the smaller 65 amp alternator with the correct pulley offset, and shimmed the adjuster bracket myself. Worked fairly well, worst problem I had was finding quality v-belts. I didn't have any issues with clearance though, which was nice, and I didn't need t...

Re: Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
i've been messing with a non-turbo a/c delete in my spare time on a 86' mk2... problem is I did it with the radiator out. The real problem is the alternator being too close the radiator hoses. I bought a pulley off ebay for ford that fits well, got a mk1 adjuster bracket (long) and tightened it fro...

Ac delete golf mk2 1.6td
Greetings Im in the middle of an ac delete on my mk2 1.6td and i found a post of yours regarding this matter (with no pics, unfortunately ) I already removed all ac components. I was hopping i could get some tips on how to perform this mod and adapt my current parts, ie, alternator and bracket (im a...
