I used to live near White Sulphur Springs. I just went to a yard sale and bought a set of 4 new injectors and put them in the 86. WOW. NO Smoke and so much quiter. If you see leakage, replace them. On an A2 , you pull the center console and expose a large plastic housing. Remove the 2 10mm nuts and detach the front. It connects to the vents in the center and tubing on the top left and right. Not sure on an a1 but the a2s have foam on the flap doors that rot.
You can put closed cell foam and get heat.

We pulled the carpet out of the house to do wood floors and I used the padding to cut down the noise in the 86. I was happy with the results.

I do not have a gauge but I believe the lift pump is about 3-4 psi.

I had two pumps on my digifant gasser. A low pressure in tank pump I kept and the high pressure external pump I removed.

I just did this. Leave the lift pump in the tank. ( Supposed 2-5 hp ??) The rest is a straight swap. Unless you have a gti tranny , you will pull less revs. ( Wannabe hot rods get the diesel tranny to drop gear ratios) Bolt it up. Jack sells duraterm plugs so I would bet on the seals.
