84 Jetta fuse/relay panel help

I recently purchased a 84 diesel Jetta that has some electrical issues. Does anyone have a list of the relay numbers that go on the panel. It is missing some and I'm not sure the ones there are the correct ones. I've looked in the maunals I have and they really don't show the 84 panel, they show ear...

I have towed several different vanagons using a towbar. If you want to see pictures go to http://www.vwtopia.com/towbar and look under the vanagon section. If you want to do 65 mph with a 1.6 put on smaller wheels. You'll get passed still but when you look at the speedometer you'll feel good. It wil...

You know if you stick it out for 11 more years you could retire and then really take life easy. Maybe you could get stationed in the Mother Country and find your vehicle there. I believe most of us on this forum actually have 1982-1984 Diesel Vanagons as they came from the factory. I am not sure how...

A test light is a good idea. Another thing I do is listen for the relay to click. You should be able to hear the relay click on when you turn the key and then also listen for it to click off. I was amazed at how much longer the relay stayed on after the dash light went off. I first discovered this b...

Dan, thanks for the info. I finally got around to trying to adjust the cable and it was exactly as you said. I'm had some other problems with my vanagon but the other day I took it for a test drive and was amazed how much sooner I could get it up to 60 mph without having to go down hill. Thanks

Even if you change it out with another VW engine you'll still need to use the oil pan, oil pump, and oil tube. I'll get you the measurements off mine if you still want them.

Christian, Yes I put the the oil pump and pan on after I got the golf engine in. Next time I will put it on before. It is kind of hard, but not impossible to insert and tighten the oil pan bolts next to the tranny. There is no problem with the Golf oil pan but because of the size and shape of the va...

Christian, You asked how did I supported the engine when they were out of the car ? I'm not sure what you mean? I just had my engines on a roller type cart. It is actually one of the car rollers, (you know you put one under each tire and then you can push your car around) with a piece of plywood fit...

Christian, I don't think you'll have to do this because your engine I believe has it on it but my 85 Golf did not have an oil cooler so that is one other item I used. Kevin

Christian, I thought about keeping the Golf valve cover on but changed it out anyway. I guess I was trying to get the look of the original Vanagon engine. I think if you have a tight seal you won't have any problems. It will be slanted some in the Vanagon compared to being in the Golf. I would like ...

I also forgot to mention that I used the engine mounts for the Vanagon engine. They use some differnt holes in the block so I ran a tap through them to clean the threads.
