Having just yanked the gerabox out 'cos of a severe oil leak from the seal on the input shaft I'm a bit worried about the amount of side play on the shaft.... Anybody know what it should be like?? Also... It appears that the needle bearing on the end of the crank has disappeared...?? There was a few...

Got an 83, 1.6 transporter (vanagon?) 4-speed, thats leaking gearbox oil out of the clutch cover... Any advice on fitting an 89, 5-speed box? and any tricks to make the change over easier? Is it possible for a start??
