What is the chance that the aircon is still working in this car from 1989?

Servo or Aircon pump?
I just got a new GolfII, with servo steering.
I have never had this before.
I see a pump in the engine compartement,
but I think it is too big to be the servopump?
Can it be to a kind of aircon?

Re: Wheel bearings - how long have I got?
I have the tools (minus the press) needed to do the replacement, and have the time and space to do it, I just don't like undergoing operations I've never done before so far away from my home base unless I have to, in case something turns out way more involved than I thought it would be. A press is ...

Re: Shaft for a vacuum pump
I do not think there is anything to fix.
It is only a cosmetic problem, it will never slip a single turn.
A new may look like yours:

My vacum pumps look like this, and I consider them to be fine.

155 bar injectors in a 1.6 NA
I have put 155 bar injectors (I have no 130 bar) in a 1.6 NA Golf,
without changing the IP timing.
What can I expect from this?
What schould the IP timing be?

Re: Head gasket external oil leak
I think that head crack is unrealtede to oil leak along the head gasket.
The only place where there is high oil pressure is in the channel marked
by a red arrow. So the leak is from there?
The large ducts is for return of oil, so here the pressure should be low.

Re: Gear engagement problem, Aut., Golf MK2
OK, so its a feature not a fault.
What is the small can above the gearbox?
The oil-filter is in the oil-pan, so it is not a filterhousing?

Gear engagement problem, Aut., Golf MK2
I have installed another aut. gearbox on my Golf. I don't know the condition of the "new" gearbox. When I move the gear selector from P to R, there is a clearly felt gear engagement. When the selector is moved from N to E, there is no gear engagement until the speeder is pressed slightly. ...

Re: Strange bolt in top of ABH gearbox
Fortunately I can find all the gears. The gearbox is heavily corroded on the outside, by galvanic corrosion in the aluminum around the steel bolts. Therefore I have had all the bolts out, did some grinding, and put them in again. But is is not clear from the outside what this last bolt do, and there...

Re: Strange bolt in top of ABH gearbox
As long as you were not working the gears with it out, you should be fine. But that was exactly what I did. :-( I vent through all gears, and turnede the driving axels to se if there was any effect. At some point the bolt would nu screw down, an I worked some more until I could get it in by my fing...

Ok, I will put it back.
Hopefully I have not caused any loss of adjustment
by taking it off.

What is the function of this bolt in top of the gearbox with code: ABH
It is too short for being an oil dipstick.
