Ironically it's the V71 service manual I have too.
Used to work in a pit where they had V-12's in the rock trucks. Unforgettable noise as the throttle is cracked open. Can't imagine a V-16. I think they use them in boats also.
Impressive snowblowers shown on the link. Phil

We have a noisy belt on our Jetta, makes kind of a clattering sound sometimes. Belt life is shorter too. Spray water on it while it's running to verify. We have found that the pulley was dented in a couple of places. Straightening these dents out sounds easy but it's very easy to add a 'high spot' f...

Our local library has a book on diesel engines, lots of pictures too. I like to leaf through old service manuals, some go into depth in certain areas. I've got a manual on the Detroit Diesel '71 series engines(2-stroke), includes the V-16. It's huge and describes every part in great detail. 22 pages...

Just adding to this post. I'm using a 10 micron hydraulic filter as a vegie filter with a machined adaptor so it will screw on to a VW engine oil cooler/filter assembly. However there is a 10 micron filter made, that will screw right on to make a cheap heated filter assembly. Keep in mind there are ...

I copied this from my VW file, probably copied text from this forum. I remember phoning Clevite about the inner bearing oil hole that was drilled at a different angle than on an original bearing, but they checked their eng drawings and said it was okay. I had to really look around to find a place th...

Personally I've always thought that there is no competition among oil companies and that the pump price is what they all agree to set it at. The random pricing between stations, between cities, which can sometimes change everyday is a clever deception, probably randomly set by a computer. The flack ...

We recently used a 1.6 engine that had sat for a long time. After the install it did the same thing after priming. Anxious to get it running we put an electric fuel pump in the supply line, thinking it was either a transfer pump or air leak issue. Days later we removed the electric pump and it ran f...

Surfcam We used cans and cans of rockerguard from Canadian Tire on a Rabbit to cover rust, worked exceptionally well. The only 2 colors they have are black and a creme color. It's an exact match for Manila beige, a popular Rabbit color. I think they use Muratic acid for cleaning sea shells, to get t...
