Count me amongst the successful :D The suspense was killing me so tonight I stopped at Walmart on the way home and picked up a cheap Fram Filter, a 5 quart jug of their "SupraTech" Oil, and a bottle of Power Service. I put on the filter, added the oil and primed it with Power Service. Afte...

Yeah, basically thats it. I guess plumbing isn't the right word.

I think all IDI lines are the same, no?

Actually, an ADA is exactly the same as an LDA.. It is just plumbed in reverse of a regular LDA becuse it works in recerse, plumb it up the other way and it becomes an LDA.

I bought a Park Tool Green Handled SPA-1 Pin Spanner at a bike shop like 6 years ago for $5.00. It worked great as a tensioner pulley wrench on my 98 TDI. http://www.parktool.com/products/detail.asp?cat=25&item=SPA%2D1 Did a quick search, looks like the price has gone up since then to $8-$9. Sti...

Stick with GL4!! No GL5!! You should only fill it until it reached the top of the fill hole. I have heard good things about Redline MTL, http://www.redlineoil.com/products_gearlubricants.asp?categoryID=7. I ordered two bottles yesterday, hopefully have them in and the car running this weekend. I'll ...

Ok, Done. Followed the procedure to letter. Still gave me the heebee geebees. Seemed to go well, no crunching noises, springing noises, etc. The only odd thing was that the seal I pulled out was a black square edged type seal and the only seal that was in the Bosch seal kit that was of the correct s...

Yes, I am just trying to get the cam plate in the right spot to do the seal. The cold start cable is off actually, I haven't hooked it up since swapping the motor in. So far success, NAPA had the correct 80x1x40MM fine thread bolt and it threads in about 3/4 of the way and stops so I assume it's hit...

Ok, I think I got it. I rotated the crankshaft backwards until the TDC marks lined up on the flywheel and tranny. I put the dial indicator into the timing hole in the pump and rotated the engine forwards until the needle stopped moving and then just a bit until it did. The I rotated back again until...

Ok, My Turn. I went to the hardware store this morning and bought the only 8x1 metric bolts they had. One is an 8x1x40mm with standard thread and the other is a 8x1x65mm with fine thread but it is only threaded about 1" up the shaft. Which should I use?? I am still a bit unclear about setting t...

It's part of the rain gutter. Dealer has them but, I hear they are $300. They sometimes pop up on ebay, really often on the vortex, or if you read your Bentley and are careful, you can get them out of a junker. Whenever I go to the pick-n-pull I practice on one or two cars if I have the time.

Both my 89 and 91 use the adhesive and the trim kit.

If you can, while the windshield is out, look for any rust, particularly in the bottom corners and deal with it.

After further input, I am better off without it and leave water separation to the stock filter.

I'll just unplug the sensor that is dangling and be done with it.

Thanks.

Hmm.. Let me think about it, you are the 3rd person to tell me I am better off without it.

What would you need to get for it?
