Hello Vanahead folks (Hey Andrew can we have another video sometime?) I recently had to make a coolant manifold for the head,ex tank, oil cooler, rad supply. I noticed something and I am not sure it has been mentioned. The tee off the main rad supply to the expansion tank has a plug in there that limi...

Yes the air in the rad reduces your van's cooling capacity by 1/3 to 1/2 if it has air in it. Andrew how about your secret weapon! I am surprised you haven't post a picture of here...... Andrew Libby invented a great tool that costs $15 and works flawlessly for filling the van's cooling system. I ma...

I have the same thing... I wonder if it isn't oil temp? Take a look at Bullisurfers... helps if you speak german.. my google link auto translates most of it. http://www.bullisurfers.com/ look for their oil cooler thread. I dont know how important this would be compared to the expense of it... but if...

Oh right ok

I just realized you are taking the tranny too.

To give the metric = numbers

You need about 55cm clear to slide the engine out on plywood. So that means you need to lift the van another 25cm.

It's around 22" clear so lifting the van another 10" or so.... but you should lower the engine first then jack up the van.

Don't forget to support the tranny!

Or take the tranny out too... not that much more difficult.

A chain, a 2x4x8' and some blocks of wood work great.... The starvin hungry lift! You still need a small floor jack on the tranny nose still but otherwise you would loop a chain over the 2x4 and link it to the one or two places on the engine that you can place a chain open link. Don't try using a ho...

By chance do the oil and alternator lights stay on the whole time and every time you crank to start it? If not there may be a bad connection in the ignition switch. Mine does this periodically right now and I find if I move the key a bit until the LED lights come on and it starts. This phenomenon do...

Plus the clear hose indicates a slightly delayed water level in the ABS tube..... very good!

Yes thanks folks.... There was lots of air in the radiator I guess the thermo wasn't hot enough when I filled it the first time. I really hope no damage was done. It was a new thermostat but I didn't test it... maybe it took some time to open....this seems to have taken a week! I think what I can le...

addendum....

There is no pressure and no bubbles in the expn. tank.... none! Not even when hot (weird).

I put a new Thermostat in so it could be the new one! But yes I will check for rad and hoses. Thank you.

That's a good question... I think.... so the connection for the that part inside is spring to the throttle lever? May be it's caught up and pushing the lever too far? I might be wrong about this but it seems to me the idle lever circled in the photo is adjusting the adjuster. The actual adjustment i...
