Re: 1981 Rabbit Motor Rebuild 1.6D NA

I'm wrapping up a 1.6 rebuild.....I didn't have to do the crank/rods/pistons, only the head and IP rebuild. Had the flywheel resurfaced and included a new pressure plate and clutch. New water pump, but that's in another freshly started thread! Doing the GP pimp job while I'm at it!. here's a photobu...

198? Water Pump Pulley different?

Well....putting this 198(2?) NA 1.6 motor back together, and found out that the new water pump has a smaller mounting surface than the original one  Any suggestions on a fix.....like, where do I get a pulley that fits the one that's smaller and already installed? (ok..I know I can go to the &...

Add a 27mm deep (fuel injector) socket to the previously mentioned tools! Cell phone charger Flash Light with s...

Re: Cam Timing Sprocket Keyway Pin?

No key on the camshaft. Just a keyway cut there to fool people. Put it together as is. Clean up the rusty stuff on the cam and sprocket mating areas though, they should me immaculate. AWESOME....thank you so much.....I thought I was loosing my mind about misplacing a pin! I'll clean that internal s...

Re: What's my car worth???

I would have to say that the motor is bad....not to the point of innoperable because you say it will not get the oil in the water at highway operating condition....but it still sounds like at least a bad head gasket if not a cracked something-or-another. The honesty about the motor condition is admi...

Cam Timing Sprocket Keyway Pin?

Would applying some anti-seize be prudent?

Re: Head rebuild part?

It would seem possible to crack the injector because of the angle not being completely vertical I imagine?

I've had the injectors rebuilt, and will be putting them in once the new glow plugs get here....didn't goof up and crack 'em pulling - Lucky me!

Re: Head rebuild part?

Since you didn't know what they were you probably don't know that you have to torque them to 51ft/lbs and to tighten toward the head, not away. If you do this incorrectly it will break the boss on the front side of the head. Do not keep tightening until the head breaks. Wow.....thank you "the ...
