heater in my dasher stinks

I have a couple of questions about the heat in my dasher. First the heat only comes out the 2 center vents, the 2 outer vents blow cold air so I close them to make it tolerable. second when sitting the heat output decrases dramaticly. It this how these are set up, or is there something wrong here? I...

Re: C-c-cold f-f-fuel and Snow in Atlanta

25 seems awful warm to gel up, I have run #2 here until it gets below 10 with no issues, must be a different formula, It was -10 the other day and the dasher cranked right up but I was running 2/3 #1 and 1/3 #2 roughly, will switch to straight #1 from here after. I'm still pulling low 40's in mpg's ...

Re: starter disengaging while cranking

I think you need to take it out/then apart and take a look for fouling and wear spots, check the bushing in the transmission to see if it is worn out too. You need to replace the bushing everytime you put a new starter in according to my starter instructions, makes sense, if the starter bushing is f...

Re: starter disengaging while cranking

Mine did that too, I ended up replacing the starter under warranty and the bushing in the bellhousing to correct the problem. The solenoid was faulty but the bushing was worn though in a spot indicating it was off center possibly.

Re: Argh! the brake valve broke off

my brakes are so squishy that it is virtually imposible to lock them, but she still stops quicker than my grandpa's 57 chevy, so not dangerous or anything. would have been nice to change the fluid but I think I'll wait till I need pads and just change the whole mess at once.

Re: Argh! the brake valve broke off

This is a good argument for dot 5 silicone brake fluid. Dot 3 and 4 are so corrosive they always cause problems. At least the calipers are pretty cheap.

Argh! the brake valve broke off

I was going to bleed my brakes and before the valve even budged the valve broke off, I didn't put hardly any pressure on it either. It's not leaking since it didn't budge so I guess it's still safe to drive but now what is the best recourse, buy a new caliper or drill it out, how do you guys avoid t...

Re: how cold do you let it get before plugging in?

I've used them on tractors and cars and have found them to not be very efficent, block heaters are much better.

Re: starter issues

Ended up just being the starter solenoid as I suspected, replaced the starter bushing again, man what a bear that was, the first bushing was real tight and cracked and broke up as I was driving it, the second went in alot smoother, spent alot of time removing the bushings. other than that it was a p...

http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w255/russellcl/newpicsdroid2164.jpg Here's the pic. of my home made seal puller. You just hook it onto the metal rim of the seal and whack it with a hammer straight up to pull the seal. It started out another home made tol thats why the hook is so narrow, I would ...

Re: starter issues

I know I overheated it when I was cranking all the air out of the injection system recently, I could smell it. I guess I need to take th starter off to check. Prior to getting this started it never ran on, it was only when I got this new starter. It is a 3 bolt starter, but I' ll be more careful to ...

Re: starter issues

It won't engage the teeth on the flywheel and now all of a sudden it won't shut off even with the key off and out of the ignition. It was only starting when cool but not when warm prior to all this, and when it wasn't engaging I could hear a click from the solenoid when the key was pushed to start. ...

starter issues

When I got my Dasher the starter would not click on after the engine was warm. I put a new starter/ solenoid in and it would start after it was warm but sometimes it would spin but not engage the engine. Now it is doing the same thing with the addd bonus os sticking on but not engaging the engine. S...

Re: new top cover seal seems to big

Yeah if I had it to do over I'd use the o-seal but it is on with no leaks. Should have asked earlier.
