Re: My stepvan gone lite-up lass night
You make some good points. Thank's for that. Just glad I wasn't in her when she got charged. That will be a little more ammo for the adjuster.

My stepvan gone lite-up lass night
12000 volt power line landed on my stepvan and blew 2 back tires out. The other tires melted the snow and burn the grass and kicked up some dirt. The inside smells like smoke. I think the tires are all toast and maybe some rear end bearings wheel bearings. What else should I look at before the adjus...

Re: Castrol LL03
I would be careful buying oil. Specially when it's on sale. You have to read the whole lable and make shure it's not a blend. I like the Shell oil because I've never seen any blends that they have made. There was a flap over at the TDI Club about dealers using blends and not spec oil.

Re: 90 mm transmission axel flange swap to 100mm flange
It's fairly easy to change out the flanges on the trans-axle. But you have to make sure the other end will fit into the wheel without hitting the housing. There are two sizes of wheel bearing housings. If you have the smaller ones it may rub on the CV's. Some people have ground enough off to get cle...

Re: Dusty roads
While I final got around to fixing the hole in the wheel well and was successful. I used some plastic out of a 3 pound honey bucket. The round side worked well for the round wheel well. I used some PL 400 (joist glue). I cut some more plastic to go around the fuel filler neck as well. I just used so...

You can check out your ratio's here.

I live on the prairies with not a lot of hills. So I like something way lower. I think 2600 to 2800rpm at 60mph is good power with out alot of rev's.

Re: putting a gasser tach in a diesel
Gas tach's don't work in a diesel. Different plause's. There is a company that makes a add on that will make it work. It might be Dakota Digital. Or just find a diesel tach.

Re: Dusty roads
I spend a little time on utube watching people fix rust problems. There's a guy promoting POR15. It's just a expoxy in a two part putty form. They never heard of it where I live so I bought some Tech Steel which resembles the POR15. The hole is about 2 1/2 x 4 inches. I'm going to put the Tech Steel...

Re: Dusty roads
Fun that I'm hitting my car with a hose as well. Try clean all the dust and dirt out of her. Getting read for some kind of patch. Part of a plastic wheel well would be good. Finding one to fit might be another matter.

Re: Dusty roads
I finally got around to taking out the trunk liner and have a look see. There's a huge hole in the wheel well around the diesel filler neck and above it that's easy to see. Inside the trunk you can feel the hole but it's hard to see because there's some kind of support structure in front of it. The ...

Re: Dusty roads
You guy's have raised some good points for me to look at. This car did come from the rust belt (Ontario). Now that I think about it. There's been dirt now and again and one time mud balls showing up in the trunk. I hope I don't end up like Fat's if the trailing arm decides to let's go.

Dusty roads
My Mk3 Jetta fills up with dust when I drive down gravel roads. It seems to be coming in through the back seat from the trunk? I noticed some kind of air check valves under the rear bumper. Maybe they have failed. Should I just duck tape them shut? This car also took a hit on the passager rear tail ...

Re: tire size on 81 rabbit diesel
195/60R14 are standard on a lot of the MK3's. That will also keep the speedo the same. You might have to check to see if they fit because they are a little wider. The inflation is according to the manufacture recommendations. 33 on the front and 31 on the back with Toyo tires. There's no tire pressu...

Re: mechanical head on a turbo block?
All turbo blocks should have oil squirters inside the block. 1.9 has a longer stroke crank and I think it should have the ACC engine code on it somewhere and maybe 1.9 on the back side of the block. I've never looked but that's my guess.
