Re: Oil

I found this site to be really helpful....ton of good information! Good info on the MSDS too.....thanks! :) http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/ I run AMSOIL in almost everything....and I bought a dealership so I could get it as inexpensive as I can. If anyone wants to get AMSOIL as cheap as I do, just me...

Re: Couple rabbit questions

Jack Ewald would be the guy to give the IP what it needs!

Wish I had gone to him for my rebuild - he's very reasonably priced and very helpful.

Re: Running, but....

I have power to the headlight sockets, but the bulbs don't illuminate....weird.!.!.! Maybe they're burned out? Have you hotwired them directly using a wire to the + and - terminals of the battery? That's a sure way to tell if the light itself works. Ya know....I'ma gonn'a try dat! :D ...

Re: Running, but....

You may have a missing ground connection as well that would cause all sorts of funky electrical to go on. Check those while your in behind the fuse panel. The vacuum pump doesn't need to be keyed to go in only a certain way, just that it meshed properly with the oil pump shaft. Other than that, it ...

Re: Running, but....

Tyler; Not sure about the speed/brake pulse thing....gotta test drive in the day time (no headlights was scary the other night up & down the block)....but I'll check! Going to pull that fuse panel and look close at it.....make sure it's not a rust bridge problem. The fuel thing is a delay....it ...

Running, but....

Well, the '80 Dasher 1.6na rebuild is running.....pimped GP wiring worked awesome with the manual switch set-up I installed. But........I'm looking at a few "issues" now: Brakes are pulsating when I test drove it.......it feels like a vacuum sort of thing versus a warped rotor feel. I inst...

Re: Glow Plug Re-Wiring

No luck today getting it to work (no clunking or anything).....going to replace the solenoid - might have fried it initially....don't know. Going with the momentary push button set-up too....then I will isolate the circuit completely and know exactly what's going on (in theory!) :x Update: Mo...

Re: Glow Plug Re-Wiring

Ok....I'ma gonna pull the green curly wire first thing tomorrow and see if that makes it better. The other wire I mention went to the original fuse thing mounted on the side of the battery tray.....I had marked it "Batt + GP"......and it goes into the wire loom heading toward the drivers s...

Re: Glow Plug Re-Wiring

Well....I got the Dasher started yesterday....a few bug's to work out including the glow plug system not working. I've drawn a schematic of what I have, any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/fj40dave/Joes%20Dasher/IMAG1345.jpg http://img.photob...

Re: Glow Plug Re-Wiring

I used Vince's picture/instructions for reference and saw that the ground wire was off the post I'm using.
Thought is: If it worked for him, it should work for me.
There is a lot of other things that can go wrong with the 1.6na build I'm doing, hope this modification isn't one of them! :D

Not everything is connected or clamped or ready to run yet (just positioned for reference at this point). Huge shout out to Vince Waldon for the instructions! Re: 198? Water Pump Pulley different?

Well....bought a new early pump - actually, just traded the pump I had for the early one. Turns out the pulley off-set is different, and not interchangeable belt alignment wise. I went to Car-Part.com and it asked to specify if I had the 30mm or 40mm pump. I think I'll look there for some of the par...

Re: 198? Water Pump Pulley different?

Had I known you needed one 6 months ago, I wouldn't have liquidated all my pulley stock and given it to the local garage. ;)[/quote]
