After much disagreements and online screaming [you know-WITH CAPS ON] i realized the lift pump doesn't even work all the time. It is only there to circulate fuel when it gets too hot, it then circulates it through the cooler. This was because i was converting a PD to veg oil, and was trying to figur...

Make sure that damage is minimal, you don't him to drop a valve that was bent after everything is back together. Yes change the water pump while you are there. It should be ALH engine code. That unit with the butterfly has 2 functions. The actual butterfly is to make sure the motor shuts down when t...

How is the serpentine belt tensioner. They fail and can cause big vibration at the front end of the motor. Or is it just a noise resonating that's the problem. Maybe the exhaust shielding between the floor and exhaust ?

That sure sucks and fortunately, I have not had this experience. I've read that with aluminum rims, you should retorque the lug bolts after 20 or 50 (or so) miles of driving as they will work loose sometimes. I suspect that the lug bolts worked loose which caused the wheel to move around causing st...

I do appreciate people who make their own tools, but snap-on has a blue point tool for it now, uses a breaker bar to hold it, works fine. I think i payed less than $40 cnd.

Congratulations. There is a difference between a turbo diesel and an ecodiesel. The ecodiesel will run fine, but has much less power than a regular turbodiesel. On the regular one the pump has provisions for more fueling. On diesels, given access to enough air, more fuel =more power. It'll be easy t...

That's what i figure. my question is how effective are they ? Do they make a big difference in heating the interior. I would of course imagine that it helps get the motor up to operating temp sooner.

Coolant glow plug effectiveness

Looking at my friend's 98 TDi that i sold him a couple of years ago. He thinks that it's taking too long for there to get heat inside. I never noticed a lack of heat [and i need the heat] so decided to check the 3 glow plugs in the flange on the side of the head. Got voltage going to them but no cur...

Yikes ! The crazy thing is when i started my veg-oil conversion business a friend and i made jokes about the potenial of doing just that. We were going to call it Oylent Green. I especially like the part about him getting into troulbe for letting his girlfriend do some surgery without a license.

I really don't know if i'm going to bother putting it back for winter. I have a diesel so i guess it would help protect the oil pan , but since it's beat up it's pretty hard for it not work it self loose and start rattling. I'd rather install a syncro skid plate or fabricate something stronger and t...

heat gauge swinging around and a shop that doesn't know what to look for. replace the coolant temp sensor, they have a high failure rate ,can give numerous dtc's and if a garage isn't sure ,the dtc seems to tell them the thermstat is bad.
