There is a thread on tdiclub that has a good picture of the brush guard removed. I'm willing to bet that if you or somebody you know is good at welding it would be quicker to fabricate one from the thread below. Also it was made for an A2 so there might be some differences anyway. http://forums.tdic...

Here is a link to a thread I started, it has lots of good ideas in it. http://www.vwdieselparts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7247 I have that same picture of the Golf Country, it sure is a sweet car. They are quite rare, they have a separate subframe, syncro 4 wheel drive, rear tire carrier, and a few ...

When I bought my Rabbit there was a piece large diameter radiator hose in place of the snorkel, my Beetle has rubber hose connecting to and from the intercooler so I guess its alright. I found a hard plastic stock intake piece at a junk yard and it seemed to reduce the noise from the engine a little...

You should check your glow plugs before you put injection line heaters on. Also most antigel's will keep your fuel from gelling to at least -40F, I use Power Service in the white bottle during the winter. I can't say I've started a cold diesel at -40F (they are plugged in at that temp) but I have at...

Re: 1.6L with flywheel fit on Engine stand
If your using the stretch bolt, which you should , that wrench trick isn't going to help. I'll vouch for using the wrench trick to remove the pressure plate, it worked for me. I don't know about removing the crank gear, as I didn't do that. But the stretch bolt issue shouldn't matter since you need...

I don't put too much faith in locking gas caps. When I bought my Ford F250 there was a locking cap on one of the tanks, it was locked and the previous owner didn't have the key. All it took was a large flat screwdriver and a good twist to unlock it. I guess it keeps the lazy thieves moving to easier...

I've been searching around on the internet for something similar in size to the snoway spacers and I found that some caster wheels are made out of a hard polyurethane. A lot of them have a polyurethane outer wheel and a hard plastic interior that, I think, may be able to be knocked out. I'll have to...

It seems like springs are the most popular method. But here are some things I have been thinking about fabricating, since I've found none that will fit and they are too expensive anyway. The second link seems like the most doable based on the shape of the strut bearing in the rabbit. http://www.4wd1...

I was thinking about this today and remembered that I did see a picture of them one time, so I looked on my old computer and found a low resolution scan of an old brochure that I downloaded 3 or 4 years ago (unfortunately I cannot read the text because of the poor quality). The spacer is a flattened...

82rabbitdiesel, I thought about getting different springs when I got some rebuilt struts but decided against it because I want to be able to revert back to stock height if the car handles poorly after being raised. Jason P.S. you might want to remove your link to that site, I believe it is against f...
