Re: GhettoFab $10 MK2 Lift Kit
just buy 2 lower perches , and use a piece of muffler tubing that is bigger than the shock (or pipe you have lying around ) remove spring, put 1 1/2" of pipe/ tubing on the lower perch, put a new perch on top of the pipe, add spring on top..... no cutting or fabrication .....

Re: Injector location between the IDI and TDI heads
true TDI ' s don't have precups and the injectors extend down into the TDI piston recess instead. .. you can't bolt on a TDI head to an IDI block... the injectors will hit the pistons
and using a IDI head on a TDI block with TDI pistons will lower pressures too low to fire.

Re: I keep braking #2 injector line
I lost 6 lines in 2 years (160,000KMs)..... 5 #2's and 1 #4 .... had all nuts/bolts tightened, relieved tension on all lines, had all the retainers in place..... 4 were replaced on the road (always kept spares handy) 1 at a shop and 1 in the driveway. Sh*t happens ... and keep a spare alt belt in th...

Re: Old guy Old Rabbit---both Happy.
hmmm... deep thought ... = 42 (any limey should know that one ) :) many recent cars claim 50MPG or better on the highway.. the 1.6 got those numbers over 30 years ago ... and are still on the road today (how many of today's cars will be able to say the same in 30 years time?) The old MK2's are still...

Re: 1.9 AAZ ticking Noise
nothing much ... just a bit harder starting in COLD weather ( may have to use a second GP cycle ) if a shop is in doubt at all , they use the 3 hole gasket and err on the safe side every time.

power (red) from battery + to the lower sending switch on the driver's side in the rad ... from the sending switch up to the fan and a brown wire to ground from the fan ( sometimes a second wire for a second speed from the fan and the sending switch...) this allows the fan to keep running after the ...

Re: weld 1984 Rabbit to 1981 vw truck
next time, just remove the windshield, cut the 2 posts close to the top, and splice there.... a lot less welding and very little warpage and finishing. your roof will be one piece and you only have to put the windshield back in. also slice the rear doors just ahead of the black window post and make ...

and jumper the glow plugs to the battery + directly to make sure they're heating up (20 seconds)..... then disconnect and get in and try starting it... pedal to the metal and crank.... ease up if it starts.
