Thank You 82vdub!
I was sure hoping they didn't go on the head gasket side....I bolted that down yesterday!
I imagine the direction dependent part will be self-explanatory if I look at the injector tip for a obvious positional match?

Head rebuild part?
Hi All,
Just a quick question on what these disc with a hole in the center parts are - they are from the head rebuild return goodies bag.

Re: REVERSE TROUBLE
I would look at linkage as well.....and try to find a parts diagram and see what is in the gear box that could be problematic.
Fluids would be a good thing to look at as well....looking for metal shavings/residue/chunks (god-forbid!)

Re: 83 Rabbit 1.6 Diesel (Broken Timing Belt)
http://naspensacola-mwr.com/leisure/autohobby.htm When I was in the Navy (NAS Whidbey) I could use the Auto Hobby shop to do some things.....they were resourceful, but a little restrictive (or, anal-retentive) on the facility....but the price was right, and you can learn a lot! Oh....and Jack (the g...

Can you turn the motor over by hand at this point, or is it locked up?
Where are you located?

Re: fuel line vacuum guage and clear fuel lines.
Hi Dan, Can you post a picture of your gauge set-up....maybe a short write-up on the install??? Joe (the Dasher's owner) wants to run bio that he will be making.....and I wouldn't put it past him to run WVO if he want as well! (he's a pretty ingenious - adventurous guy!) Dave there is a light blue t...

Re: fuel line vacuum guage and clear fuel lines.
Yep...."Joe's Dasher" is a 1980 Silver Dasher with a 1.6L NA. Joe is a great friend of mine, and I'm rebuilding his motor this Winter. He purchased the Dasher last Fall.....stole it actually.....$800....and drove it down (~100 miles) to me. "82vwdub"....I think I will do somethin...

Re: fuel line vacuum guage and clear fuel lines.
I'm getting ready to reassemble the motor and install.....thanks for the information here!
I've attached a pic of the fuel line mentioned....it looked pretty crummy.
What is the thought about support for this line along it's path.....just hanging there doesn't seem too well engineered.

Re: '81 Dasher na--Clutch needs adjusting often
Good Info!
I'll have to check the mechanical parts for the '80 Dasher clutch I have access to.....I have the motor out and am rebuilding it.

Nice looking project!
I think you'll really enjoy it once you fix it up, and know all about it
