So I found this on ebay -

I'm not sure how it would mount into an 83+ style door. Shouldn't it have a long metal piece which is riveted to the door? This looks like it just slides into the channel, but how would it stay?

I have that clamshell type bracket and have two bolts going through the bracket into the ears of the compressor. I also have a bolt through the bottom of the compressor and the pivot point. I'm having a heck of a time getting the AC compressor to stay straight when I tension it on my Rabbit. Any tricks or guidance from folk? If that's not right, then it will make the alternator not be true as well.

I just did both of mine on my 83 Rabbit. I had to take the mount plate off, which I believe requires removing the alternator and AC. You have to do this in order to get to a few bolts on the mount plate. The bigger issue for me was ensuring a press was available to install the new mount. My neighbor...

I have the rivet style windows and I'm game on swapping the vent window assembly out. I just don't know what I can swap it with. If I can get the right info, I'll make sure to take some pics and do a decent write up for others. Of course I need to get the parts too.

Is that a carpet kit or did you use regular carpet and cut it to fit, including forming it somehow?

Woah! Did you make those? Do they go in the A/C compressor? Would something like that work for the alternator?
