180

180 dergrees seems way too much unless you assembled it way off. i would remove your head and verify a few things before you rotate 180 degrees. If you timed the throttle lever to the shaft something is wrong under the head. remove your headand when you look into the inside the throttle shaft to the...

dirty garage

     my parents bought a house from the state on a tax lean. the guy was a german WWII gerneral and a hoarder. It took two rolloff dumpsters for us to get all the crap out of the house. he drew pictures on the walls of electrical outlets with arrows pointing down so he would...

location

I think he meant locating it on the splines for the governor. you can see in the end of this homebrew procedure there are lines on the throtle lever and one going across the throtle shaft. if you have it out try rotating the the shaft one line clock wise. that will reduce tension on the fuel control...

throttle

Very true. I had mine in the right location but it had no power and did not respond untill quarter throttle. Turned out to be in the right location and the max fuel screw was not in far enough. I did not remove the screw when I redid the pump but after un sticking the stuck injection quantity sleeve...

eco head

So it may be a feat to bolt it to my block then? I know my head is mechanical. and I am about 70% sure it is 11mm. I can tap it to 12mm if needed unless there is some special diffrences in block (let me know if there is please) or use a stud kit?

Re: 93 eco diesel perf rebuild

I am looking for ideas on what all cn be done to this motor when I rebuild it? I've done some high performance upgrades to other diesels in the past, but nothing this small! What year eco diesel do you have? and what is the part number on the head? I want to put an eco head and turbo on my caddy bu...

petroleum jelly

I rebuild my pump last week and had the same problem. I think what happened is when i used the vasoline on the vane pump the vanes would not spin out against the housing. I filled the pump and cranked for quite a while after cracking the fuel lines on tthe injectors to see if it was getting fuel. i ...

cracks

I checked it it is not cracked. I have a section of cable that is frayed and coming apart. I have the manual cable off and can see where it is cut and verified it is the problem.

carbon

If you are blowing clouds of carbon the injected fuel is burning. the low compresion could be a huge factor also a stuck governor in the injection pump over fueling possibly a bump timing issue (if it has an iternal timing mechanisim like the bosch ve)

too much

I just dont want to get into it and find bearings that need to be replaced or grese seals and or shoes, springs, wheel cylinders. I fear if i start messing with the brakes it is gonna get crazy. All my previous vw's were very tempremantal. I am convinced if i fix something on the caddy (bought it a ...

draging brakes

In the quest for better mileage I was hoping I would not find a dragging brake but one fo my rear drums is dragging, not bad but still drags. I am afraid to take it apart right now because I will want to spend money to make it perfect and cant affford it right now.

no start

That sucks all the time put in to it. you could always go the the redneck last resort. 3 bottles of engine honey and two cans of restore   see if that bumps the compression. or just sell it off. just curious though when you crank it over do you get bluish smoke out the exhaust in good volu...
