Christian, I just finished putting an 85 Golf engine in my 82 Vanagon. The flywheel is interchangeable. I also put the vanagon injection pump on the Golf engine because the throttle cable connection was different between the two pumps. I also changed the water pump but you can just change one of the...

I bought 2 relays (got to have a spare right?) for my problem but don't believe it is the relay. I spent about $22.00 each on them. They are not Volkswagen but are German made. If you want one I'd sell it to you for $22.00 plus shipping. I can't imagine shipping being more than $2 or $3. Let me know...

Glow Plug Relay Not Working - Bl/Wh wire giving me problems
Here is my problem. I've had the van on the road for about a week. Glow plugs and relay was working fine this past week. Saturday had problems getting it started. Sunday I had to "hotwire the glow plugs" to get it to start. I have no amber light on the dash anymore. Thought the relay was b...

throttle cable adjustment?
Can the length of the throttle cable be shortened? I have about 1/8 to 1/4 inch play in the cable. I guess the real question is can it be shortened without cutting it. I didn't see anyway to adjust it at the injector pump without adjust the pump itself. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Kevin

Oil pan/pump/part question
I am putting an 85 Golf Diesel engine in my 82 Diesel Vanagon. I finally got the engine installed today. I was waiting to install the vanagon oil pump and pan after I got the engine in since the Golf pan was smaller and easier to slide it under the van. I took the pan off to replace the oil pump and...

Injection Pump Question
I have an 82 Diesel Vanagon that I am installing an 85 Diesel Golf engine in. I have both engines out of their vehicles and slowly moving parts needed from the 82 block to the 85 block. One item that I swapped out is the injection pump so the vanagon pump is on the Golf block. I was very careful to ...

Removal of Pilot Bearing
I was wondering what the trick is for removing the pilot bearing? I would like to pull it out in decent shape because it is not that old and I need to put it in a different engine that I am getting together to put in my 82 Diesel Vanagon.
Thanks for any and all advice,
Kevin
