The gauge you linked to only goes to 600 psi. That aint gonna cut it. Injectors pop much higher than that. The link in the start of this thread is correct. To the right of the gauge are dropdown menus to enter desired psi etc. I bought the one just above your reply and it just came yesterday so tim...

Search eBay for "3000 psi test" and you'll find 4.5", 6", and 7" faces at pretty reasonable prices.... not as cheap as PA of course, but sometimes bigger *is* better. Bought the Ashcroft 7" for $69.99. Hope it works http://cgi.ebay.com/Ashcroft-3000-psi-Standard-Test-G...

Thanks for the input Vince. I think I will pass on the lapping since they dont look horrible and not having experience. Dont want to end up having to buy new ones :)

I like the idea of lapping the springs of the injectors with higher break pressure as long as the lowest injector is within range. Which brings me to another question...have the experienced forum members come to a general concensus as to lap nozzle holders and upper portion of the injectors or not?...

I got mine at Princess Auto for less than $15 or so. Don't remember the exact amount though. $8 rings a bell. Try going to a store that sell hydraulic accessories. Was trying to find something online since I live in kind of a remote small town without much for hydraulics. Princess Auto online curre...

Pop Tester Gauge. Is it worthy?

Im putting together a pop tester and having a little trouble finding a gauge larger than 2.5" face that isnt $200+. Found this one for about $50 with 4" face and wondering if it can do the job.

Im surprised nobody has responded with the use of those large socket style filter wrenches that are the diameter of the filter and fit over the opposite end of the filter gasket. With that and a 1/2" socket wrench yer good to go. Note: Dont buy the cheapo plastic ones from Wally. I tried one on...

Im too am wondering about suspended gases in solution Hopped on a physics forum (over my head :? ) and it was noted that atoms are forced closer together on very small scale while compressing liquids. How much at what pressure? Not gonna go there since I only made it thru calc and regretfully didnt ...

8oD If you were 'wrong', then you weren't far wrong. Trouble is, Robert Bosch worked to such fine tolerances, that small potatoes matter. Thus a reclaimed 1990's Bosch [german] nozzle may be better than a 2000's made in India Bosch replacement... Im still baffled how Bosch would even think to use s...

Great link Quantum! Yes, I see what you mean now. I did not take into concideration that the initial blast of fuel at the very tip of the pipe would take on an incredible amount of force perhaps far beyond the break pressure of the injector  And yes, a tiny amount of compression (increased den...

Small potatoes yes. So small, if at all, it wouldnt be measureable enough to create the bounce IMHO, which is why I think its insignificant to this application. I feel its more relavant to believe the force of the fuel under pressure being suddenly cut off by the injector then pressurized again by t...

Where did you pull that nugget from? Compress = to compact Think hydraulic. Why do we not use air to move a cylinder on our brakes to stop our cars? It will compress and create less force than usable to stop the car. Blood is a liquid right? What would happen to the diver at depth if liquids were c...

Quantum-man wrote:but my take on it is that it thus maintains a length of diesel pre compressed to the or near to the break point of the injector
Technically speaking, a liquid cannot be compressed
Pre pressurized yes :)

Thanks for the input Fatmobile and joat. All still seems well...just a tad loud at the injectors, even after advancing/retarding IP, but NOTHING like it was. Going for new nozzles since I dont know how old mine are. Hopefully I can get a DIY pop tester built without too much trouble. If anyone knows...
