Well it turns out the socket is a stock universal socket for VW, and the harness going into it can be made with some special spade terminals.

The pulsing follows the speed of the van as if it's in the rotor/ wheel assembly. Would a vacuum issue cause the same pulsing?
I've got the dash apart so I'll check the booster connection and pump tonight.

How much did you guys pay to get the pump serviced? and what was done to it?

Ya I'm a little puzzled by how it happened too. Best guess so far was the governor pin rotated the collar and when I torqued the top on it was still at an angle and snapped.

I also have tracked down a couple of head units with pins and some old pumps thanks to the community

ARRRGGGG!!!
