Thanks for the advice all. I got the timing set-much easier this way :D Tried to crank a few times, but my battery was about dead. Also noticed some bubbles in the Tygon fuel line I replaced the Urethane one with. It seems to have "loosened" around the barbs with moving it around. Did get ...

Timing problem with 83 rabbit

Did a search and got a few ideas but will try to be more model specific. Apologize if this counts as "stupid question" but apparently I qualify. 1st diesel I've ever worked with, sat for 12 years but I got it to start and run halfway decent. Replaced all the leaking fuel lines and of cours...

Again, thanks for the help. Will be out of town so will try tomorrow.

Fatmobile-I made a donation recently to your R&D, grew up in Clear Lake about 20 minutes from you.

Thanks for the quick replies! Should have added a bit more information, the U clip nut and the union is stuck hard and fast. This car has been sitting outside behind a pole barn for around 10 years, everything is tough to move. Long story, bought it from a student last fall, never touched a diesel b...

Replacing Brake hoses on an 83

Hello all! Trying to replace the flexible brake hoses for front brakes. I'm rounding off the nut that holds the U clip where metal and flexible hoses meet. Any suggestions to loosen that puppy up? Sprayed solvent into it, opened up a section of a box end wrench to get a better grip(didn't work well ...

Tygon tubing... Biodiesel Friendly?

Anyone want to throw out a list of materials good for a Biodiesel or WVO conversion? Have heard Tygon mentioned for standard diesel but unclear on bio. Read the conversion FAQ and am having problems finding urethane and nylon air brake tubing. Know greaseworks sells a Viton Kit for conversion, but w...

I found a site with at least a bit more info than the DSE has posted in their "FAQ" section:

http://www.NewEnergyReport.org/019346.html

Comparision and Contrast with Biodiesel-goes over the selling points.

Biodiesel line question

Probably a stupid question, but hey-there are none right? Read the "conversion process" for biodiesel and saw the easy way to replace the lines. My question is what do you use for a "cap" on the 1st (or last-can't remember) injector return to seal it? Or is it safe from breakdown?
