At $2,000, not a bad find!

Set out to replace my axles today. Got the old ones out no problem, but while attempting to put the new PS axle in, the outer joint somehow fell apart. If anything my car is a bit higher than most. Maybe bigger tires. I'll just go with the lifetime warranty big box axles. Knowing how to replace axles doesn't mean I enjoy doing it every few years.

Looking on the bright side, I guess it makes for a good time to do a more thorough inspection.

What's the part off of? A mk2 diesel? I know those systems changed since they were all after market US additions, right?

yeah i might just replace them then. I've never seen boots that torn - not even with the previous axles which I replaced with these.
I guess you get what you pay for(?).

If you take the guys out of the solenoid wouldn't it continue running even if you turn the key off?

I've never had solenoid issues but I'm starting to thinking adding a spare solenoid in my travel box wouldn't be such a bad idea.

ever heard of anyone breaking a spring from overloading? that was my fear when I had my car packed to the brim (back seat and trunk) with heavy tools.
