Re: 81 Jetta diesel is overheating
On the MK1 the restriction is usually in the barb coming off the radiator, blowing through the hose and making bubbles in the reservoir won't find this. On the MK2 the restrictor is inside the small hose, which is built into the radiator hose and can't be blown through. sounds like the hose is clea...

Re: Looking into biodiesel - '91 Jetta
the standard material for replacing rubber parts for biodiesel is called "viton"... I P seal is a bit touchy and your right, timing belt change would be the perfect time. Other than that I think its just the rubber hose lines, again viton and readily available - 3/8 ". I got a seal an...

Re: 81 Jetta diesel is overheating
I like blowing through the little hose. You should be able to blow bubbles in the reservoir. If it is clogged it will be in a small pin size restricter hole either in the barb at radiator or in a separate rubber restricter jammed in hose . If its a separate restricter, I take it out and throw it in ...

Re: bearing with me
thanks Fatmobile. I have a buddy whose worked in a number of shops and he told me that even some of the good ones with generally nice equipment have cheap harbor freight presses. For now I just took the whole knuckle assembly off my golf. Haven't put it on yet, ended up making the trip on the old on...

Re: bearing with me
thanks guys, I was playing with the idea of seeing what I could do with one of those loan a tool ball joint presses. I may end up just taking a whole bearing assembly off my golf for now, as the jetta is my only working car and I'm pressed for time and money.

bearing with me
I have somehow never had a wheel bearing go bad until this week when my cummins and jetta both had their front passenger bearings fail/ or begin to fail anyway . The jetta is just a little whirring/ rumbling. This was today so I haven't jacked up car and 100% confirmed, but the way it increases with...

81 caddy part out.
let me know. been sitting for a while, already pulled some stuff. I may pull motor and tranny for my golf, not sure. Interior is pretty moldy. Already cannibalized IP, radiator cracked. This is probably best for odds and ends like lights and stuff. I have two decentish tailgates. white. I also have ...

Re: Pressure in coolant tank?
also worth checking the stream from the little breather hose going from radiator to reservoir. There are videos on you tube showing what the pour in sealant does. Eric the car guy has a good one. Sounds like you're not doing it as you didn't mention it again. In my opinion, using that stuff for prob...

Re: Water in floorboard! Help
My golf leaks visibly from one front door, the sunroof, and rear door but there's no internal rust or corrosion and I'm pretty sure its because my floor pans are so shot... self draining vehicleI've drilled small floor holes before,.. doesn't mean it's not hillbilly, ha.

Re: Injection Pump Questions
where exactly are you finding diesel? It could end up in the timing belt area from any number of places. It could run across the IP mounting plate or just down the side of the engine. ... injector lines,... any seal on pump, fuel line . Yes, the mainshaft seal can leak while the pump still primes an...

I would look into IP timing then maybe injector nozzles... should be starting real good with working glow plugs and your good compression
