I just changed my trans fluid and saw that the Bentley says the manual trans takes 1.25 liters. I got about 1.5 liters in before it started drooling out the fill hole. The old oil came to just shy of 2 liters. Maybe I've got one of those units that need to be filled from above. What's going on with ...

The last time I was getting zero charge, The best I did between trips to [autoparts chain] for a free recharge was 13 days. So, lets say 20 starts and 200 miles, with hardly any headlight, fan or radio use. It was chilly, so I probably ran the glows twice.

Wow, this forum is quiet. Anyway, I took off the lower switch that notices where the clutch pedal is, and put it back on, and now it's fine.

expect the unexpected

My gauges and indicator lights have been dead for a few weeks, until today. I followed the Bentley troubleshooting guide and it seemed I'd have to trace the blue wire (clean it- it's blue!) from the alt through the loom to wherever it goes. I was checking all the grounds first cuz that's easier, and...

VWCaddy - How thick was the wall of the tubing in the alt adapter you made for your Toyota? I was worried that that style of adapter would move like a chain link and cause wear (probably because the bolt hole in my alt is really widened out.) If I try again, I may try that. While we're looking at t...

Update- The adapter bracket I made interfered with the new belt path, too bad. But it is possible. The standard belt will work. The long belt is way beefier then the alt belt and I wonder if the pulley on the alt is too small for it. Is there a minimum pulley size for belts? I rotated the compressor...

can I make an A/C delete adapter?

I'm thinking about getting rid of my a/c compressor. I want to make a bracket that will attach where the compressor bolts on, and the alternator will attach to the bracket. The pulleys will line up and it'll only need one belt. I haven't heard of anybody doing it this way, and I don't know if that's...

It's definately caused by the cold. Above 25*F it's fine. Below that, it hits very hard. The left front is where it's happening. Cold or warm, it does not bounce excessively after I trampoline on the bumper. Front struts are of unknown age- I think this is my opportunity to put taller struts in.

suspension problem

This morning I had a new problem. Any road bump causes a loud bang and it feels like I ran over a cinder block. It feels like the left rear is the bad one, and the body sits about an inch low there. Looking underneath there's nothing obvious. When I jump on the bumper it bounces like normal. A previ...

strange turn signal behavior

My right hand turn signal would sometimes give me rapid, irregular Morse code style flashes. If I flicked it off and on again, it would be fine. I looked at the front first cuz it used to fill up with rain. I jiggled a wire on the socket (I think the ground) and the blink became regular doubletime. ...
