Completed sealing the oil pan, took the Rabbit for a spin around the neighborhood. Has EXCELLENT acceleration for a non-TD, new clutch is smooth and has no slip! I don't think there is enough meat in the block to tap them out. I seem to recall hearing someething to that effect here on the forum. Not sure if a helicoil would have the same problem or if anyone has tried doing that. I've heard of people helicoil-ing the VW diesels, and its only slightly tapped...

Recently purchased a 81 Rabbit 1.6l with the 11mm headbolts Bought new bolts and headgasket, installed it, and then torqued them down to 52 ftlbs. Ran the engine to operating temperature, no issues, clean oil and coolant, then took the valve cover off, torqued the bolts up to 66 ftlbs...and on the 1...
