That would be my first thing to check too. With the key off look at the injection pump above where the lines come out and there is a solenoid with a wire, unscrew the wire and set it in a position so it doesnt touch anything. now go inside the car and turn the ignition on full (glow plugs on) then g...

1000 to 1500 for a decent one would be ok. The upper price if the car looks good and has no problems. I like to dicker with the price as much as possible. The reson being no matter how a car looks and seems it can still have hidden issues that you may need the extra savings for. I try and get them f...

newer to older rabbit speedo swap??

Hey Guys, I have a 79. It had a low geared transmission and not allot of top speed. I found an 81` 4 speed and replaced it but now my speedometer is reading 10 mph fast. My choices are to have the speedometer calibrated or perhaps use a later speedo mounted into my early dash. I have the old style s...

Just another thing to consider is a colapsed fuel supply line.
That or something got caught inside the gas tank pickup line.

Another thing to check is the center motor mount just below the firewall. Rust and age can cause this particular mount to detatch from the body And will shake like Charo. Allong with that check the mount itself too. Sometimes you can see it jump around while the engine is running but if you dont wan...

Try loosening the nut(just a little) on one of the injector lines then crank it while watching for fuel. I doubt your going to get any pull from the pump untill its fully primed. Ive also used wd40 sprayed liberally in the intake while cranking (air cleaner removed) But that might not prime a dry pu...

I don't think you did anything wrong but I think it was unnecessary.
A dry gasket is the best gasket. Everything a gasket needs has been added to it.
I think I remember in my younger days putting stuff like that on gaskets??
NO..I wouldn't have done that :D

I`m not too far off that vin# Maybe we need a log to keep the brothers and sisters together :D
The question comes up from time to time when I order parts "is it German or American?"
I usually get the part I need but it would be nice to know.

VIN code help needed.

Greetings, I was just wondering why my VIN is 10 numbers with no letters?
Its an early 79` model with round headlights.
The vin search says I should have 17 numbers.
Import maybe?
Thanks.
