Myself coming from a background of ATV, motorcycle and snowmobile racing I tend to use hand brake assisted turns even in the summer on my G20 and Vw diesel, the police frown on them due to the noise and smoke as well as my glazed over rear drums :) H-turns are wonderful in a car but can be expensive...

tons of them in salvage yards around here, even with 100+ inches of rain yearly and 370,000 miles my 1985 golf frame and undercoating is close to factory new- no rust on the car anywhere :D

yes these engines can be a tough one to start if you dont have perfect glow plugs and good compression. must be due to the pre-chamber head as i was able to fire up my john deere 855 with no glow plugs at 5F the other day, it kicked off with just a bump of the key

iv never used any anti gel before either, but the coldest air in 15 years is rumored to be headed my way sunday and my vw has been down for the count with a bad water pump and alt with a tank of B99 in it since july so i treated both my kerosene heator and vw with a entire bottle powerservice and 16...

.89? thats crazy- do they have the same diff gears? i cannot imagen a.89 as my 1985 golf screams so hard on the interstate at 80mph i opt not to drive it and drive my civic.... haveing a .89 would cause crazy engine damage as it would be above 4,000RPM and make it totally un-driveable in the midwest...

i was very close to doing the same, drilling the bracket to the same size as the ac ears, threading them all to a US bolt and run it all the way threw, but does the bolt end come close to the pulley?

lots of nice cars, luckly i live where no salt is used- so even with 100+ inches of rain/year zero rust. just worn out wiper motors and wiper pivits :)
