cold oil
Dear Puzzled, Uneven idling is what I've noticed when the oil is too cold. If I'm reading this right, your heat exchanger (other than the oil being warmed in the tank and the filter being in the oil) is a 3' HIH. That doesn't seem like enough. You tried adding a small heat exchanger and that didn't ...

With fuel getting so valuable, you might try to find a locking fuel cap.

vacuum
You should read zero on the vaccum gauge most of the time while the fuel line is looped.
4 means something is restricting the fuel.
These restrictions can draw air out of the fuel. Drawing it into bubbles.
Getting the vacuum down might keep the air bubbles from being visable.

1.6 TD crank
The 1.6 TD has the same crank key problem.
I got a free car from a guy because of it ... and my other turbo diesel engine has obvious damage to the crank keyway and gear but hadn't completly gave out yet.

1. I think when trying to use a return banjo they ended up pointing in the wrong directions. Tap the bolt and thread it 1/8" NPT. Using 2 taps (one a bottoming tap) so you don't start threading below the holes and make the bolt weak. I'll try to post a pic later. Fuel will actually ride up the ...

dewatering
I've been reading about dewatering over on the biodiesel forum and they suggest heating the oil above 212F then spraying it into the air. They are saying the water will settle to the bottom and heating the oil won't cause it to vaporise, rise off the bottom and dissipate into the air. I think they s...

vacuum gauge
About any lighted vacuum gauge will work. I'm not sure VDO makes one. Sometimes they are called fuel economy gauges because on gassers ... the lower the vacuum, the more fuel you are using. They are more colorful than a plain vacuum gauge. I'm having a hard time finding them at the local parts store...

Let's not turn the FAQs into a place for discussion.
It would work better if you made the comment in another thread or forum and posted a link to it here, with a brief description of what the link contains.
