Re: RIP "Old Blue"
Are you being sarcastic? ha. I didn't really scratch up the stainless surface much so I'm not sure how well the paint will stick. As you can see the paint on the stainless rocker that was added several years ago is starting to peel. It doesn't bother me, in fact I kind of like the stainless shining ...

Re: RIP "Old Blue"
I found a couple more pictures of work done under the right fender: The top area of the strut was bad on both sides: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52597466909_7cedb8a0fb_k.jpg I forgot to drill 5/16" holes for the buttonhole welds before I welded this patch on so I drilled and welded it l...

Re: RIP "Old Blue"
Inside the rear passenger side wheel well was really bad. I cut it out and made a cover so I could run my vegetable oil fuel lines inside the rocker panel. So there was a lot to patch up: Here it is before starting. You can see the stainless I put in near the rear rocker panel: https://live.staticfl...

Re: RIP "Old Blue"
I got a bunch of rust repair done on the Rabbit this fall. It was way worse than I imagined but I've already put so much time into this car it's hard to let it go. So here it begins on the passenger side rear rocker: I know it looks bad and that's the area the rear end is bolted to. But the inside a...

I've seen more Rotella T4 and T6 at the local fleet farm too.
It's spendy though.

Re: RIP "Old Blue"
The bushing I'm talking about goes around the inside of the housing, around the shaft the tie rod screws onto. The passenger side end gets loose and moves side-to-side. It would be nice to have a 3-d printer. I don't know anyone else that has one locally so maybe I should get one. Well it's time to ...

Diesel motor oil shortage coming.
diesel motor oil shortage coming to a neighborhood near you. Looks like there is a huge shortage of additives that are used to make diesel motor oil. By September you might not be able to get any. This might also lead to a new/virgin plastic shortage. https://naturalnews.com/2022-06-22-red-alert-ent...

Glad to hear you could find a 36mm pump and that it helped increase oil pressure.
It didn't help much when I upgraded to one.

Re: Broken exhaust stud
Yep, you'll have to go underneath.
There are 4 bolts (12mm 12 point?) that hold the turbo to the exhaust manifold.
They are not easy to get to and will need a short breaker bar to remove.
They have to be removed before the turbo will come off and allow you to get to the intake bolts.

Re: Putting a VNT 15 on a Rabbit
Got the old Rabbit back on the road for summer. It's running great, lots of zoom. Sounds great with lots of turbo whine and a roar when slowing down. It has just a little too much boost in the lower gears even when set at the lowest setting. So I'll have to make the accel peddle have more effect on ...
