Re: Ohh that's not going to buff out

I hear the MK4 golf headlight setup works better.
I'd rather have a MK4 golf than a Jetta, even if some of the parts are better.
They will swap over.
That's the way it was with the MK2s also

Re: Ohh that's not going to buff out

I can't stop picking at it. Just when I think I have everything, I think of something else to grab or tear apart. I want to know how to fix the heater vent doors, the Mk4s have the same problem as the MK2s. So I pulled the dash off. All the little locking things like rear seats, glove box, trunk fue...

Ohh that's not going to buff out

Here's a picture of the jetta I'm parting out: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52044122471_cb567dda8f_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52043025897_d44dbef4f4_b.jpg Gotta love that tailpipe, ha Some guy hit a slick spot and rolled into the ditch this winter. I'm needing a better ALH engi...

Re: Rebuilt engine low oil pressure

Ohh you have a VNT-15 that came with it.
That's my favorite turbo for the 1.6.

Re: Rebuilt engine low oil pressure

I think the 36mm pumps were used on hydraulic blocks so they would be for diesel cars after '86. Pretty sure the gasser oil pumps spin the other way When I had low oil pressure problems the high flow oil pump didn't raise my oil pressure at all. Ended up being the clevite I-shaft bearings and it was...

Re: Rebuilt engine low oil pressure

Weird that the same hose is used on the Mercedes. It is a crazy looking hose that likes to rub on the alternator. I love the early sciroccos but have never owned one. I'm in Iowa and the only real change on titles is they now require a bill of sale when getting a car registered. What state are you in?

Re: Rebuilt engine low oil pressure

I just looked at your list of cars. This is going in the '86 Golf right? You have an '81 Scirocco? Noice. Right the price of metal going up is a bad sign of future inflation. Because that's the raw materials needed to make things. Was just looking at clearance stuff. An upper rad hose for the MK2 di...

Re: Rebuilt engine low oil pressure

So did you get new pistons or is this a rering? The more I think of it,.. I should try to see if I can save the '85 MK2. It's too bad folks are afraid to work on their own cars. I know a few girls that have been brave enough to turn some wrenches. An axle swap probably wouldn't have been that hard f...

Re: Rebuilt engine low oil pressure

Yeah, the dealership is the only place I've found those vacuum pump seals. And they do want quite a bit for them. My local dealership gives me about a 15% discount. My buddy wants to sell me a '85 Golf for maybe $400. It's not in nice shape but has the 12mm block, manual steering rack and the much c...

Re: Rebuilt engine low oil pressure

Good. 10 to 12 at idle is plenty. So you had the valve cover off while turning the oil pump with a drill? And saw no oil coming from the cam? That's a good thing, it's a pretty good test for if the cam journals are loose. I had a loose cam in a rebuilt engine and the oil poured out around the cam jo...

Re: Rebuilt engine low oil pressure

20psi at 1000 is pretty good. I would be happy with that. I ran one that was at about 7 warm in the VNT-15 for a long time. Seems like that happened in about every engine I used clevite I-shaft bearing in. I use sealed power now. As far as changing I-shaft bearings goes, the engine needs to be out o...

That would be a good way to add an antitheft device switch for an immobilizer deleted car.

Re: Little red pickup

Up and running. Took first trip into town yesterday. Did real well. Has a slight tick that I don't like but the timing is spot on. I might check the lifter clearance again. My pulse detector was not working right last time I tried it. Flashes constant when I touch it. Won't flash the light until RPM...
