When I pulled my rabbit out of the junkyard it had a big blue X sprayed on the drivers door, I tried gas but it didn't even smudge it so I used MEK (kinda like acetone) and the blue came right off and didn't touch the white underneath 8) .

At first it sounded like the overheating at night thing was from running the headlights and that somehow made the gauge read higher, I've seen it happen but I'm not an electrician so I don't know what causes it. Any seal can leak, try cleaning it real good then drive it normal for a day and check it...

Have to agree with hagar that old Rabbit/Jetta diesel prices seem to be down... probably 'cause it's winter, but also because none of the VW diesels was eligible for the big US federal clunker-carnage program last year, so they're 'still around'. At any given time, there's always a certain % of the...

I believe that's off a NA IP, I can't remember what year or model though.

I do know they're hard to get.

P.S. Andrew isn't on this forum anymore, someone thought it was a good idea to throw mud in his face (with a PM) since he was too right about something......

I'd use the factory jack and lift one tire, spin it in 2nd gear and then do the other side. Rub it with a stick too. Set the parking brake first!!!!! If you haven't spin balanced the wheels yet then don't even bother with anything else 'til that's done........I've had really bad shakes caused by out...

does it matter what kind of car battery i use im just not sure how many amps the system can handle or maybe there is a battery more suited for this. im just thinking its a lot of amps being used and too many could melt things. A battery will only put out as much amps as is drawn from it. Like if th...

If you can tell the compression is lower then just yank the head, it could be warped/cracked, same with the block. How bad it is determines if it can be machined back into specs.

Also the rings could've lost their spring and no longer seal.

The HG probably leaks too.........

IIRC my block heater is 450w. How cold of temps do you get? After a couple hours of running the block heater the battery will be rather dead so it'll put a big load on the alternator. Your going to use just one battery for the heater then? You'll need some kind of switch to connect/disconnect it to ...

Back when I was a new rabbit owner I did a foolish thing, I added coolant and forgot to put the cap back on. Then I went on a 15-20 mile drive, it lasted about 12 miles and luckly it was winter so the heater was running. When the heater quit heating I got out put the cap back on and DROVE to a frien...

I forgot if this car had the clutch problem when you got it or if it happened after you had it?

My wabbit is making funny whirring noises when I push the clutch and I just wondered what your's sounded like.

If you hit a lot a potholes I wonder if you could've broke some bands in a tire causing a bulge? Or it could've knocked a wheel weight off.

I had a broken circuit like that and found it by seeing how far along the path it got until the power ended, turned out the circuit was broken right around where the nut tightens down on the path. A washer under the nut fixed it.....I guess that was for the temp gauge though.

Re: LDA IP for NA?

So I got this IP with LDA for zero dollars. Presumably its from a TD engine and supposedly worked when pulled. What are my advantages/disadvantages to running this in a NA motor? As much as I would like to try, it doesnt seem like I could lean my NA for "smilage" with this IP...or any oth...
