If you messed with the max fuel screw try turning it out a turn or two, get it so it'll idle good and and give the slightest wisp of smoke at full power.

Is it blinking steady or flickering? A bad body ground will cause the light to flicker.

It strange to think that the nasty, cowardly PMer is reading all this and hopefully feeling really dumb but will probably never come forward.

Andrew feel free to come on back, yer input is appreciated and needed.

Please don't quote me on this but i read somewhere the gasser and diesel 1.6 na blocks were identical. Oops I quoted you haha, but no the blocks are different. You might get the diesel guts into the diesel block (not sure) but the diesel block is tougher. I would guess that the deck height is diffe...

The cutouts in the pistons are for the flamefront and are not lined up with the valves, neither are they deep enough.

Rather than checking the t-belt you should just change it, unless it's cracked and dry rotted you'll think it's new and they don't cost much anyhow.

Have someone push the clutch while you watch the lever on the tranny, maybe hold the lever up then see how much more it goes up when the pedal is pushed. A good hard yank on the lever should disengage the clutch and you can see how it feels. I think the rod and bearing are fine, if you look real clo...

If it's got the metal t-stat housing snag it, and maybe the coolant connections on the head too, not sure if they're the same.

I keep having to chuckle a bit  The only reason "ECO mode" give better mileage is because it limits the fueling, with a little self control on the go pedal the same mileage can be had in non ECO mode...... With a diesel the stoichiometric ratio changes from idle to full power. So adju...

I'm going to try tuning my car for maximum smileage soon. Hagar, what is your opinion on fueling? I've heard that leaning the fuel out too much can will give you less lower end grunt, resulting in the need to use higher rpm more often. Should I make it super lean? "Leaning" it out will si...

In warm weather after the engine has been run, usually have to crank once, then quit, and crank again, then it starts. I bet your ignition switch is bad, mine went bad so I swapped it out with my parts bunny and now 90% of the time, whether hot or cold it'll crank and crank........let off the key a...

Heating the air should only help if it's waaay cold out or your GPs aren't working right, unless you've got fuel problems that also cause hard starts. Also heating the air is just what the GPs do only they do it inside the combustion chamber, cummins diesels on the other hand only have a heat grid i...
