Ugh I go through power steering belts too often. After a couple months they are just too big to hold any tension, even after adjusting the pump to its max.

Going to start looking for a smaller belt soon.

Well I picked up two from the junkyard today. But disappointingly, they both don't work... I won't have a chance to go back until next weekend too. :( However I did pick up a tiny little princess auto toggle switch and I made a little something! :) Getting there... http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/...

Thanks for the pics Vince. I take it that the switch could be driven by a simple electrical toggle switch? Just what I was looking for! A nice clean switch to turn it on and off. Already have a nice one :)

Hmm I will check a fish store today Hagar.

Vince, what does this vacuum switch look like? I appreciate the offer, but I'm sure I could find one at the local junkyard instead. :)

Yea I've got the gauge but I've been having a super hard time finding a valve to switch LDA pressure on and off.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm going to try tuning my car for maximum smileage soon. Hagar, what is your opinion on fueling? I've heard that leaning the fuel out too much can will give you less lower end grunt, resulting in the need to use higher rpm more often.

Should I make it super lean?

For me, the best increases were seen by remembering that there was no mandate to travel in the 'fast lane', keeping up with the speediest freeway commuters (85-95+mph) heading toward L.A. in the morning! It takes some restraint, but 55-65mph seems to support an overall average of 43-45 m.p.g., vs. ...

Is the dipstick and/or dipstick tube the right one for the engine? Someone didn't put one in from another car for some reason?

If you have never changed it yourself after you bought the car you might want to look into this.

Check your fluid level. If it's even a bit low fill it up.

If it's fine, check to make sure your shift linkage is engaging properly.

Sounds like that front one that you can't get at is causing the problem. I would look at trying to replace the bleeder screw.

Yesterday I started replacing my valve seals. Now this is a perfect example of when Hagar says fingerspitzengefuhl. You really do need a finger tip feel to get those damn keepers in. The tool I made works great though! Done 4/8 seals.

Merry Christmas!!

Make sure there is no dead spot as you start to push down on the pedal. Your cable may need to be adjusted.

Tires are almost never sold as new. My set of winter tires I got a couple years back were new, but two years old and the set I picked up for my sister this year are about once and a half. Even more interestingly... The summer tires I bought this spring were the first year that they made and distribu...
