Really check for slight cracking on the belt under some good light. If there is none then you can wait a couple months. But overall as a rule of thumb: If you don't know how new a timing belt is, just replace it. I wasn't sure if the timing belt had been done on my girlfriend's 1.8t so I changed it....

PS: Happy birthday! (It wouldn't let me post yesterday in this thread yesterday... It kept making me preview the post without actually submitting it)

Thanks for the updates Bormie. This is something I have been considering. Lately I've been burning a lot more oil and it seems to be getting worse.

Thanks Op-Ivy Welcome! :) To be honest I remember the gauge face being bigger than just 2.5 inches and I remember the price being lower than that as well... But I just took a look at my tester and yup, that's the same gauge! For anyone else needing a gauge, this is the one we are talking abou...

I got mine at Princess Auto for less than $15 or so. Don't remember the exact amount though. $8 rings a bell. Try going to a store that sell hydraulic accessories.

Very nice! Engine pictures would probably be good for a potential buyer to see.

Wish I had money :(
