my thing is a fuel or petroleum in the cabin. If it leaks you have a mess, no matter what it is.

Re: Head gasket - which way?

They are all blind holes. The 12mm ARP studs that I used were actually ford cogsworth studs and say to torque to 80ft/lbs. I torqued mine to 100ft/lbs. The chromoly alloy they are using is stronger than arp gives it credit for and I think for me the 100 was needed as I used an aaz gasket which is mu...

Re: 1986 1.6 golf diesel help

I didn't look too close, but where did the pump come from? If it was PROTHE or any of his "other" websites you should probably just start shopping for a new pump now.

If it was from a reputible seller, then check all that the guys here have already suggested. You should be ok.

Re: Intro & marble mystery

I would have loved to hear and see a video of it running. If it was a pump issue then swapping it would have taken it all away. Injectors and valves could be a cause. I didn't catch if you had the head done on one or both of these or what the valves had done to them.

Re: Intro & marble mystery

^ and also... A new properly built engine will be "tighter" than one that has several hundred thousand miles on it. When your engine gets over 6,000 maybe a little more miles, it will "loosen" up a bit. At least mine did. It was very noticable for me. Going down hills the car wou...

Re: Running, but....

What fatmobile said.

I also found out, from everything I have seen anyway, that every completely brown wire in a VW is a ground. The only tough part is that after 20 plus years sometimes they all look brown.

I went with a straight as I intercooled. Ebay is your friend, call the silicone intakes, they may have something.

Re: Oddball Turbo Parts

You can buy adaptors for your compressor outlet to pipe or whatever from Ebay, or my favorite is Silicone Intakes. I have the 1.75 to 2 adaptor for my k24 to 2" pipe.

Re: Injector pump questions

you can turn the pump up for more power if needed. Also, some have had automatic trans fluid work in making the seal swell up and stop leaking. Some have had it leak no worse so you aren't going to break it more. Take the line off the inlet and put it into and ATF bottle, let it suck the entire quar...

If I were to do it again I would use plexiglass and paint the reverse side. The only thing I wish I had was a tach. Functional, but maybe over...

Re: 90 Jetta transmission whine

When I was younger and didn't know I put 80w-90 in one and it never shifted correctly. I later find out it is supposed to be 75w-90. I put that in and it shifted way better, but I think the damage was done as it didn't shift perfectly.

Re: '79 Rabbit Tires - How Big?

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc you may or may not have that, but it is a good resource to find similar to stock 155/80r13 in wider or different sized rim tires. I do know a guy that put 205/x/r14 on and with me in the back everytime he hit a bump the car rubbed bad. I want to say they came off...
