I got really nothing to loose, my bro want to make a electic car out of the body and I might go and get one of those passat tdi wagons on ebay that are around 25k, heck it would be over 38-40k here in Canada the same car, but I am kinda cheap and never had a car payment in my life and I like the fix...

Ok I was reading this thread and found a couple things wrong with the 11mm torque you dont just go up to 66ft-lbs you go in stages up to 66. Also you never back off you run till hot and retorque 66 and then run till 1000kms and then retorque 66 never back off. I talked to Jack on this and thats what...

Good move with the laser heat gun they can find out faults fast and leave the guess work out of the picture without plugging in a guage here or there. I bet the temp is alright they just read high but good to know what it is so you dont melt er down. By the way sweet ride! I was thinking of getting ...

Exactly Q-man. My procedure is just like you said. I noticed when I put the head bolt in all the way by hand oil would just squeeze thru the bolt hole to the coolant gallery on the block. I think what I will do is take some brake clean and fill all the headbolt holes on the block. Then take a clean ...

It a bad joke not serious, way too small a world for scams and what goes around comes around. I rarely sell anything but when I do I make sure the buyer always gets a great deal and its not junk. I take great care of all my stuff, its sad to see things go wrong. It was nothing more than a sick joke,...

Clamping force is not really what I am worried about its just making sure there is enough threads in the block, hell threaded rod would have done a better job than the factory 1/2" too short bolts. Its not a turbo motor so I doubt the head is gonna lift off. I am talking with the likes of mr. j...

You know what, the 12mm are supposed to be all ok, but having this experience with my 11mm if I could go back in time studs would have been in there even if they cost 500 bucks they would be in without a question. And yeah people will sit back and say you did this and that wrong, well whatever I say...

Ok now I found this: "ETKA gives the 1980 diesel head bolt part as 049 103 385B and the dimensions as M11x1,5x96 the 1985 1.8l gas golf is 049 103 385A M11x1,5x100. I'm assuming this means it's 4mm longer. Seems like that much is sticking up from the nut on top of the bolt in the head." St...

Well my response from headbolt company was they do not make 11mm and they wont ship to Canada. Next. GTD forum only has part numbers for the 12mm kit I think as they do not really say if its 11 or 12 they are talking about and some people on there think that all 1.6 are all 12mm so not a really good...
