Ok i did rebuild/reseal the pump but i chickened out on the mods. Power was'nt really an issue but i really like to havea smooth operator. My pump i'll be replacing has a surge in it so i just want that to go away. Anyways wish me luck that i did a good job guy's.

That's another good point. But i guess we just have to look at the whole picture and recognize these things for what they are. What else could i own that has a CD player, heater, and A.C. and still get 50+ mpg on the road.

You more than likely found a piece of intermediate shaft bearing in your pan. If was upper it would'nt have made it to the pan & if it was lower end and you had that much bearing material gone on ANY crank bearing i think you would definately know it. I posted this in the IDI performance column but thought i might post it here also. I have a IP that only needs resealed. I have the seals but am trying to figure out if i'll tear down the pump or only change the outer seals. If i were to do a tear down are there any performance mods that can be done...

I have a good operational ip that i plan on resealing. If i choose to do the complete teardown, are there any mods that can be done to pump to enhance performance? I know Giles does some kind of hopup but is there anything a home emechanic can do? thanks

Good idea, i had'nt thought of that. I've had a surging pump from the getgo on this car and i have a known good pump so i'm just fed up enought to change it now. Later and thanks
