serious engine problems when running on WVO
I just finished up installing a greasecar kit in my Rabbit, and am having some problems that I thought this forum might be able to help me with. It seems like when running on veggie, the engine is getting very bad fuel injected. It clacks loudly, bucks, smokes, and generally acts very unhappy. I'm a...

Bunch of stuff, some diesel some gas
OK, I'm serious now, the garage has become a problem. It's packed with stuff, and I'm leaving for school in two weeks and it all has to go before then. Take a look, I'll offer a discount for local forum members!

Pile of A1 Rabbit/Jetta parts FS
Clearing out the garage, there's some good MkI stuff in here so check it out. -- The parts shown on this page are what remains of a 1979 VW Rabbit I parted out last summer. It was a red 4-door car with a gasoline engine and a 5-speed transmission. Most parts will also fit diesel Rabbits, or gasoline...

$250 '81 Rabbit diesel
http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/151789075.html Not mine, no connection to seller, just ran across it and thought someone might want to jump at this opportunity. Looks like it just needs a belt and probably some head parts. I have too many projects on my hands already but it would be nice to see so...

rabbit shell
Just saw this on craigslist: http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/151761110.html Looks like a fairly straight 2-door shell, and it's a German car which is nice. Motor is blown, doesn't say if it was gas or diesel. Pacific Northwest car, which means most likely zero rust...and Port Angeles is maybe 100 ...

Re: fuel mileage
Yeas I am using special ---supply ---NOT from main tank. I suspect he's running on free vegetable oil, from a second/heated tank. I do wonder how the lube stays clean though. :?: You may have answered your own question...if he is running vegetable oil, there's nothing in there to blacken the oil. W...

Re: Better to use kerosene
A couple quarts of ATF (auto trans fluid, any type) in the tank works also. Has saved my butt at least once. I must say, you'd be far better off running kerosene as a stop-gap fuel. Kerosene is sold in many of the same types of stores, and is cheaper. Best is to of course pack a gallon of fuel in yo...

Re: To test expansion tank caps
I just figured this out tonight. Take an expansion tank and block off the 5/8 inch port, I used a rubber block off cap. Then connect a pressurised air source with a gauge, I used an old bicycle foot pump with gauge. Put the questionable cap on the expansion tank and pump the assembly up. On my 82 r...
