Moving 1.6D engine from Golf to Vanagon

I am trying to move an 1.6D engine from a Golf to a Vanagon. Some of you must have done that. Apart from engine support, there is the oil pan/sump and the flyweel. The sump, does it NEED to be changed ? How about the oil pump sucking tube ? And the oil dip stick ? Can the flyweel just be interchange...

Corrosion of the gearbox

My gearbox (4 gears) is very corroded on the outside
all places where it is bolted.
Is this common

It is important that the wires from the battary to the glow plugs
are keept short and thick, because of the high current needed by
the glow plugs. So a relay will be needed in the motor compartement.

If the voltage drop occurs at your relay, it will become very hot.
