I have been very busy so i haven't had a chance to dig into the bearing issue. Looks like I will have a chance to work on it Sunday. I bought two new wheel bearings so i will report back what i find out.

It sounds like you are on the right track, If anyone can help you find the problem the guys on here will. I know I said my bet was on bad rings but like 82vdub said if you can still turn the car off with the key it's not bad rings. It may after all be your IP.

Don't do it.. It's to much trouble and a waste of time. It would suck to install a new head gasket and have it crack after two days of running. I bought a 11mm block from a guy that was trying to save the block. He had it welded by a shop. When he tightened he head bolts the weld cracked. he was sic...

I would use head studs when you put the new headgasket back on. I just put studs on my 11mm block, you can run the studs to the bottom of the bolt hole and get a much better clamping force with out cracking the block. I am running a k14 turbo so this will be a good test to see how the studs hold up....

My turbo was leaking oil into the intake and blowing smoke out the tailpipe. This is the first turbo I have rebuilt. It was an easy job.

I sold a silver 81 Rabbit to a guy in KC about two years ago it had a rebuilt 1.6 turbo diesel engine. He flew into Grand rapids mich. and drove it home to KC. I had converted it to round head lights. Wasn't silver was it?
