I have a bastardized 89 cluster with a diesel tach.
The tach displays a temp and fuel gauge. I will sell the tach for $30 or the cluster for $30.
The temp gauge never worked on my car. Flashing light.Fuel is perfect.
The tach works dead-on.

I had 2 running cars and used ramps with big wooden blocks underneath them. I used a tranny jack to lower the unit and rolled the cars out of the way, (after putting the axles in the hubs). Lest I be bested by Hagar, I went out and you can hoist the front up with a good bit of effort.. That was afte...

Bottom or top ?
I just did a engine/tranny swap on my jetta and pulled the cradle/struts/tranny/axles as a unit out the bottom.
I have previously went out the top and found this a lot quicker.
Does anyone find this way easier ?

Last Monday I bought an 89 jetta 1.6 n/a . 103k real miles, all records, no rust and great interior for $800. I saw it on a country carolina road and stopped hoping it was a diesel. Funny thing was I just bought a gas burner to swap my 86 motor into. I look like a real vw fan with 3 mk2s in the yard.

I was hesitant to use it on henryjetta. I concur with the idea if VW did not do it, I do not need to either. My big worry was getting some goop in the cooling system. I know the MI place encourages it in their catalog but we do not profit from it and give much more subjective opinions. My free advic...

AON versus ACH tranny
I just picked up an 89 jetta to give my 1.6 n/a a better home.
Looking at the charts I see I could drop a few hundred rpm's at highway speed by using the gas tranny. I run mainly on the flat as a board carolina coast so the hill climbing should not come into play.
Any flaws in my plan ?

It really depends on the amount of use and other variables. Are your injectors leaking on them? Do you have the correct and verified good relay? Are they Bosch Duraterms? this link shows the type of junk a lot of ebay and questionable places sell, http://www.tradekey.com/selloffer_view/id/220893.htm...
