vacuum gauge
Click on the www at the bottom of my posts.
I think a picture of my vacuum gauge connection is at the bottom of the fuel temp sensor page.
I connect it to the banjo bolt on the front of the pump, which IS after the fuel filter... to answer your question.

kind of car
What kind/year car are you working on?
Put it in your signature when you get a chance.
Does the crank pully feel loose?
Intercooler lines clogged with soot and oil?

vacuum gauge
The vacuum gauge can read anywhere from 0 to 5.what kind of reading would it give you before and after it is clogged?
I start to worry when it gets over 5 and do something about it if it hits 7.
It could probably hit 10 and you wouldn't notice it without a gauge.

check my site
You should have a vacuum gauge on your fuel line.
It will warn you before your filter is clogged or fuel is gelled.

CV bearings and race removal
I always wonder if the bearings should go back in the same spot. They probably should but I don't always worry about it. To get them out ... if I remember right... Turn the cage till 2 of the bearings are free then turn it back the other way and remove the bearings on the other side, 2 more to go an...

outter CV boot repair
...so you are trying to remove the outter CV joint so you can replace a junk CV boot? Just pound it off the end of the shaft. If the boot is junk you don't even have to worry about smashing the rubber. Grab the shaft and hammer the CV end off, there is no clip holding it on. There used to be a clip ...

fuel draining back to tank
It might be your drive shaft seal. Put a clear fuel line on the output of your pump. If it never turns to clear fuel, it it is always foamy, the shaft seal is allowing air to be pulled into the pump. Feel for fuel behind the injection pump timing gear. Leaks in the little lines between the injectors...

rear calipers
I messed with some rear disc brakes on a '98 Jetta. With most calipers, I can just press them back in with a c-clamp. With these I had to turn them as I pressed them in. I heard there are parts places that rent or lend the proper tool. I think it can be turned with a set of channel locks ... turn it...

injection pump
I concider the pump to be 2 parts. The vane pump, that pulls fuel into the pump ... and the pressure head. If the vane pump is bad, fuel won't flow from the return line. Look at some of the old posts about how to bring a VW diesel back to life, especially the part about flushing the pump, the "...
