Valve guide renew

OK I have done something and I'm not sure I should tell people about but here it goes. The exhaust valve guides were worn out on my 1.6 head, The valves would rock back and forth 1.5 mm with the valve pushed out half way. The tolerance is 1.3mm. So this is what I did to fix the problem. I had an old...

Cracked 11mm blocks Head studs

I found this post on 11mm blocks and thought it was good info. ((NOT MY POST)) I found this on vwdiesel.net So it’s been asked dozens of times, “Why do I need to buy these expensive head studs for my 1.5L or early 1.6L?” The 1.5L diesel (engine code CK) and the 1.6L diesel (engine code CR) as used i...

Re: Just say no to crack, the dreaded 11mm block

Ok so the block I had lined up to buy and put these parts in turned out to be a 11mm block :( . I checked the block out and it's in great shape no cracks. Should I try to use the stock 11mm bolts? This is my first go with a 11mm block. Anyone have experience with 11mm head studs. How much are they? ...

Re: Just say no to crack, the dreaded 11mm block

I just bought this block for the new parts in the engine and the head. I am going to toss this block out and put all the good parts in a 1.6 12mm block.

I bought this for 120.00 after the previous owner gave up on it. It had new rings, rod bearings, crank bearings and a good head.
