'84 Rabbit Cold Start Cable Pictures?

Anyone have photos of the cold start cable on the back of the injection pump? I need to replace mine and all I have is the damn Haynes Manual that provides little of a view. Mine is just broken off.

Another thing: If I do check the oil pressure, what should the numbers be?

Okay, I believe you guys when you say it should be checked. I'll try to find out what the oil pressure is and replace what needs to be replaced. I don't have an RPM gauge to tell when it goes away, but 2000 seems about right, because it goes away just as I apply the gas.

My DIY Tank

Haven't tested it yet, and it's actually going to go in a Benz. Anyway, it's a plastic 6 gallon tank from Walmart with the supply coolant line entering on the left through a 5/8 heater hose into a connecting brass fitting to a copper line (the copper line is fed into the tank with a rubber hose grom...

You could have low pressure at idle from things like worn main bearings or intermediate shaft bearings. Best bet is to hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge to the engine to verify that you are getting a good reading when hot and idling. You could just buy a new pressure sensor but you're better ...

Oil Light Comes on only at operating temp. idle

My Rabbit has been doing this since I got it last summer. I check my oil regularly and have it changed about every 4k. I was told once this may have something to do with oil pressure? The light only comes on when I'm at stoplights at full operating temperature, or for instance, if I'm on the interst...

Oh yeah, one thing I forgot to mention. The other day I tried rotating my two front tires. The Driver's side tire was wearing pretty hard on the inside part of the tread....also, the passenger's side wheel would not come off....like it was stuck on.

i had the same problem on a dodge truck couldn't figure it out till a wheel came flying off. turned out that the lugs had started to pull through the rim after the garage didn't put the tire on right by the time it came off broke every lug bolt and destroyed the holes in the rim where they go. That...

Typically a sudden change means there's something that happened that isn't quite normal. Some questions for you that you can look into: - Did you hit a pothole and knock the front end out of alignment? - Did you bend the rim? - Are all the lug nuts tight? - Did a wheel weight come off? - Is the ins...

'84 Rabbit shakes at 65 mph

Just started doing this. The steering wheel will shake on the interstate almost like it's having a seizure. Is this something a front end alignment could fix? Or is it just cuz it's an old car? Any suggestions appreciated thanks.

1.6 Cold Start

The cable broke, so I started the Rabbit then took a screwdriver behind the injection pump and lifted up the cold start to see if that part worked. I didn't notice any difference in the way it was running or idling. Does that mean that not only the cable is broken, but the cold start itself doesn't ...

I have the same engine in my '84 Rabbit. When I got it over the summer, the Injection Pump started leaking because I was filling it up with Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel (as the person above me talks about). I didn't realize it's all they sell now and that you need to add a Diesel additive to help lu...

But before I tear the whole thing apart, I'm going to do a hot steam clean under the hood then pinpoint exactly where it's leaking the large amount of coolant. Head Gasket has 3 Divits in it, so I ordered the right one.
