Re: Oh No! An Oil Leak!
Yep, time to do the HG. I find them usually leaking from the rear corners..

Re: Starting swap today..
Yeah, not worth the hassle in my mind.
I posted up my CE1 diesel cluster last night for $100. Someone's buying it within minutes of the posting. So I'll just get a CE2 diesel cluster. So much less hassle..

Re: Starting swap today..
Fantastic! Thanks!
Anyone know what I should do with the plug for the transmission? My CE1 wiring had the transmission plug, but I don't know how to, if to rewire it into the CE2 wiring, or if maybe it's not necessary. What does that plug do? Is it for reverse lights or something?

Re: Starting swap today..
The intank pump doesn't push that high. It just provides fuel to the high pressure pump, maybe 7psi People have run with them and they help at high loads. I think you can run with the gasser sender/pump unplugged, I don't think it will cause a restriction. A vacuum gauge will let you know if it doe...

Re: Well.. I bought another one.
On the gasser I'm swapping ATM, I just cut the metal lines.. turned the wheel back and forth to relieve some pressure, then cut a piece out of the rubber PS hose and looped the two together adding two hose clamps. Haven't tested it yet, mind you.. but I've heard that looping the PS rack makes it fee...

Re: Starting swap today..
One last question before I drop the engine in.. I just ran the fuel pump off a battery to drain the tank.. pulled the old lines.. Now, for the fuel sender do I need to swap it for my diesel one? Or can I keep the gasser one? Is the intank pump too high pressure? Edit: Left the gas tank, it's as empt...

Re: Starting swap today..
It has a resonator in it already. I sandblasted the 3" DP today. Just need to figure out what to coat it with so it doesn't rot.
Is there a right up on this somewhere?Fatmobile wrote:I changed my '91 circuit to run the gasser tach off the "W" terminal.

Re: Starting swap today..
That is what I feared. I changed my '91 circuit to run the gasser tach off the "W" terminal. Alright, so I suppose that tach is better then nothing. I think I saw some write ups on making the tach read from the W plug. Oh, any good information... I'm getting a 2.5" PP downpipe and com...

Re: pump timing + MPG's
Shouldn't be rattling.. are you describing a noise or the car is physically rattling?
You'll hear the engine clacking or clattering. It's a sound distinctively different the regular diesel sounds.

Re: Starting swap today..
I swapped a diesel tach into a gas cluster and put it into my 86TD and it worked fine. Just put a light on the dash for the GP's. A gas tach won't work in a diesel. Maybe I can swap my tach into my gasser cluster. Things that might be an issue.. my diesel has CE1 and gasser has CE2 so I've found ou...

Re: Starting swap today..
I welded the pedal cluster. Removed the automatic cluster, installed the manual cluster and shifter box, reinstalled the heat shield and I'm tired. Tomorrow won't have time to work, but while the dash is still apart I have a question. 1. Anyone know how you disconnect the black box dealy that holds ...
