Wow with the bracket.
I don't think I've seen that before.
I'm so cheap, I rebuild calipers.
They do look nice when they are painted.

Re: Oil leak at front of camshaft
Right, that could be it. Permatex #2.
I always thought part of the problem was the cam tapering right up to the seal.
It doesn't look like the outer lip of the seal is even touching the cam.
So it was nice to see the TDI cam seal sit so deep.

Re: Oil leak at front of camshaft
You won't put the #1 cap on wrong. There is a sealant, I'd have to check my tube but I think it is #2. My mechanic used to call it aviation sealant. It is kind of dark brown and never hardens. I started putting a thin film of it on the #1 cam cap surface, where it's metal on metal. I used to always ...

Re: RA deals
With Rock Auto it's great if you can get the parts from the same distributor,.. or you end up paying several shipping charges.

Re: RA deals
Is that 3 cents for the whole set of o-rings? Or each, for the set of 172 o-rings?
Says they are nylon, that's strange.

Right, it's notorious for cleaning the tank too,..
then dumping it into your fuel filter.

Re: RIP "Old Blue"
Yeah, the pickups are getting pricey. I had a chance to get a caddy in a box, with a great engine and some assembly required for $1800. I was too busy. I might be able to put a 2-door front on a pickup this summer. Here's the 4th episode of 2022 body work on the stainless rabbit: After I pulled the ...

Re: RIP "Old Blue"
Many years ago I went to a paint store and asked if they had any paint they mixed wrong and were going to have to throw. They came to the front with several cans of mauve or salmon or pink. Then they came back with a gallon of dark green metal flake with a little poo tint in it. I really like it. Th...

Re: RIP "Old Blue"
Are you being sarcastic? ha. I didn't really scratch up the stainless surface much so I'm not sure how well the paint will stick. As you can see the paint on the stainless rocker that was added several years ago is starting to peel. It doesn't bother me, in fact I kind of like the stainless shining ...

I found a couple more pictures of work done under the right fender: The top area of the strut was bad on both sides: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52597466909_7cedb8a0fb_k.jpg I forgot to drill 5/16" holes for the buttonhole welds before I welded this patch on so I drilled and welded it l...

Re: RIP "Old Blue"
Inside the rear passenger side wheel well was really bad. I cut it out and made a cover so I could run my vegetable oil fuel lines inside the rocker panel. So there was a lot to patch up: Here it is before starting. You can see the stainless I put in near the rear rocker panel: https://live.staticfl...
