Re: moaning while turning

Because of my location. I have not found anyone that can press a bearing in successfully. This method is not for everyone. After removing the housing and hammering the inner race and balls out I dremel the outer race right though. A little nick hear and there won't affected the bearing housing abili...

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can buy that HVAC tape at home improvement stores.

Re: The unthinkable.

My z1 is my favorite car to drive. I had a leaking shock on the rear so I replaced them both. I did a four wheel alignment on it a few months back. I had to shim the rear wheels quite a bit. I cut the toe-in in half. Boy is it nice to drive now. Turbo oil line, emissions bellans line, and one glow p...

Re: The unthinkable.

[quote][Wow. be glad you don't have a PD motor. I understand they won't handle gas at all. Don't want to find out./quote] I guess that's another reason for me to stay away from the PD's. I've always set 03 as the newest TDI that I ever wanted to own. Never liked the idea of exotic pressures, oil and...

The unthinkable.

Well I did the unthinkable. Filled my TDI with gas drove her 50km. After about 40km she did pulse a little. I just thought it was the wind. It was blowing at about 70km which is very normal for around these parts. Me and the wife had to drop some dolls off Treasure Barn in the town of Stirling that ...

Re: WHat happened to this forum??

There's lot's of people out there that just don't want old VW's around. I was in Lethbridge VW a few years back to get a part I just couldn't get anywhere else. I ask the parts man if they had any Mark 2 TD's on the lot. Well just at that moment the owner walked by and replied that we try to crush a...

Re: I'm Back!!

I only have one vehicle that I would give the velvet glove treatment. That would be my Gold Steam B campervan (very similar to a roadtek B but Canadian). I'm considering doing my Caravan with acrylic enamel or one coat urethane. It's flaked off on the roof and real flat on the hood but the sides loo...

Re: I'm Back!!

There's a real good primer over at autobody101 under advise to newbies to help get are painters hat on. Or you can just make your paint job peel like banana split. Shoot first ask question later. At lest it will taste good. I usually get orange peel no shiny apples for me. It hides the bad body work...

Re: Source for big rubber washers that go on motor mounts for 1.6L diesel engine?

My brother and law made me some fat washer for my 4BTA 3.9 Cummins out of one inch thick cow mats. I think it's made out of recycled tires. He just bolted it right to the frame. It's never vibrated so little in 14 years. The DIY motor mounts that it had after the transplant from a gas engine where a...

Re: I'm Back!!

I've been doing a bit of research into paint systems. Summit and Westwood are claiming they can offer paint at very reduced prices because they have very limited colors and don't offer color matching. They also claim their paint is as good or better then the big brands at the walk in stores? From th...

Re: What's this fitting coming from my LDA and why is it blocked

It might have broken in half and lodge itself in another location. If you could see a picture of it, that would confirm this. I'm betting the gentlemen from Michigami has one.

Re: mk2 vs mk3/4

I purchased a Mk3 TDI almost 4 years ago as a experiment. Just to see how I liked it and if I was able to fix and maintain a computerized diesel. Well my experience is very positive. These first generation TDI's are light on emissions and computer. Now the good, the bad, and the ugly. They are a 1.6...
